SINGLE LIFE by Granny Annie
Frances did not have a green thumb and it was not a secret. If you took a walk by her home you would see her long abandoned garden.
She moaned at the poem "Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, wonder where the flowers is". Frances had no problem growing grass that had definitely riz. How in the world would she manage keeping it cut? Her job kept her away from home most of the time and when she was home, she wanted to rest inside her comfortable house.
Frances threatened her family members with pain and suffering if they dared plant anything in her vacant garden ... unless they were willing to maintain it. She rarely made it outside her home unless she was going to or coming from work. Still she was forever surprised coming home to find, like magic, high, weed-filled, green filling her yard.
How much would it cost this year to keep the yard mowed through the Summer. Every year the cost was higher. Her friends insisted that marriage for Frances would be the key to her yard maintenance. Her only response to them was "Not on your life would I ever trust another man!"

THE STORY ENDS by Granny Annie
It was an interesting epistle. Liz had found the document while walking along the shore. Somehow the sea had managed to avoid splashing up and soaking away the words. "This is for the welfare of the children" the story began.
The author went on. "My spirit wanes as I count my companions on this long walk. Their happiness is all that I care about. Hopefully the primroses they dropped and footprints in the sand will lead me to them. They have remained ever faithful in their alliance moving foward."
Liz began to pick up her pace as she followed the small footprints and flower petals moving her toward the inviting water.

WET FELINE by Granny Annie
Lucy was not happy to be in the water. She watched the other cats gather and cheer her on as he paddled toward the bank of the pond. Out of breath, this soaked kitty curled up on land to linger a while. Lucy found solace as she rested from the cold and near destruction. The feline friends all began to lick her in an attempt to get her warm and dry. Her memory was a flood of the previous times she had been thrown in this pond by the enigmatic neighbor. It would always be a mystery why Mr. McGregor found it necessary to pick on Lucy. It wasn't like she was Peter Rabbit eating in the farmer's garden.

Say hello to Sneaky Pete. This is a re-run of a post from 11 years ago. The then 3 month old kitten was very afraid of me. After he was born here, his mother moved him across the road to the neighbors. When his mother returned for visits, Sneaky Pete followed. Perhaps there is no memory of having been born here. I called this kitten Sneaky Pete because he would sneak behind something and keeps eyes on me constantly until I would leave the barn.
