Apples are more efficient than caffeine in keeping people awake in the morning. (this i know, but most people dont so here it is with freaky facts!)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.

  1. Those were really, really interesting!

  2. Don't you wonder how they know some of these things....

  3. A great list of knowledge for sure.

  4. The one about hearing is believable, since when you eat some extremely hot peppers, you lose your hearing for a moment (some say it's so you won't hear yourself scream in pain).

We are a bit taller in the morning, after lying down all night, and shorter at the end of the day after gravity has done its work pulling us down while we were sitting and standing.

Puppies, and many other mammals, are also born blind and deaf. Their strongest sense is smell, so they smell for the milk and latch on and that's all their instinct tells them to do for the first several days.

Only the female bees work because there are no males once the queen is fertilized once. After that, the drones are not needed and die.

The smell added to natural gas is mercaptan, and it is nasty stuff. A little goes a long way, as a friend of mine found out when he asked a friend to get him a tablespoon of the stuff for a project he was working on. The friend brought him a pint, and he had a horrible time getting rid of it.

It's so much fun to find out new stuff, now i'm going to be wondering if all bats are left-handed (left-winged?).

  5. Oh my, can't wait for my next luncheon or cocktail party to share----if we ever have those things again.

  6. I had no idea banana wasn't a fruit. So that now means I'm not getting my 5 a day!

  7. I knew the banana is a herb, the largest of all the herb family, but did not know about the apples vs caffeine. I may start eating apples for breakfast.

  8. Some I knew but most I didn't. Now I am glad to find that bananas are herbs so I am not hating fruit, I am just hating herbs.

  9. The vertebrae tend to get compressed as you're up and about during the say-- That could account for the shrinkage. By the way, the whole reading list/favorites thing is messed up for me and many others. to go direct. Frustrating.

  10. Some of those facts are really interesting and some are downright humorous. A good start to my day!
