SUNDAY TALKING...12-31-2023

My male friend who has been courting me since last July has finally won me over. We are in touch every day and we go every where together.  I never dreamed such a time would ever occur.  He is an outdoors-man and I passed on going on a trail ride with him.  Here he is on his mule Bonny.

Here I am in the turquoise earrings he gave me.  He also gave me a huge bag of pecans and a collapsible clothes dryer to set up outside.

My daughter and son-in-law gave me this wonderful swing.  It is in a perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors that surround our property. Frankie kept trying but never got on the swing.

My son gave me a great drawing kit of sketch book, clip board and colored pencils.  In this photo he looks like a giant and I a little person but it's just the angle of the shot.

2023 was a wonderful year.  We are all rejoicing and looking forward to an even better 2024.  I hope all my blog friends will have wonderful things to report in the coming year.  Love to all!!!

DID YOU KNOW...

In the “dancing plague” of 1518, hundreds of people danced uncontrollably for two months.

T he phrase “dance the night away” took on a more literal meaning back in 1518, when as many as 400 people were struck by a “dancing plague” in the city of Strasbourg in modern France. The epidemic began in July with a single woman known as Frau Troffea, who spontaneously began boogying away in the middle of the street. She danced alone and continuously for an entire week before several dozen others found themselves overcome by the urge to dance as well. By month’s end, the number had grown to several hundred. The mysterious dancing eventually waned, and Strasbourg returned to normalcy in September.

SUNDAY TALKING...

I have a precious goddaughter who lives and works in LA.  You may remember my visit to see her a few years ago.  Anyway, she has made my Christmas shopping for her exciting.  She knows the cash amount I usually send.  She then converts that to purchases she would love to have. She emails me the link and all that's left to do is click "buy it now".  Her taste is excellent and her choices inspire me to think about getting the same things for me.  Plus it gives me insight into her life choices. If her friends compliment her on these items in her home she can say "my godmother gave them to me.

Cash gifts were what my parents always gave.  I now do the same.  My children look forward to the money as do the grandchildren. It would be fun if they did the same as my God-daughter and make me able to have insight into their lives.

SUNDAY TAKING...

Thursday my new friend took me for a ride in the rain. My housekeeper was working at the house and I like to get out of her way.

We went to Walmart and he had to make two small purchases.  It took him quite a while to decide which item to buy as he calculated and re-calculated which was the best bargain. He ended up saving a dollar on the two.  I would have been long gone by then.

Next we went to Braums and he got us black and white twist yogurts.  I accidentally punched a hole in my cone and had to hold the rest together with napkins. Still it left a trail over our table. It was a good thing we didn't get these in the drive up.

Our last stop was to buy power ball tickets.  It was amazing to me that this person would waste $2 after pinching his money so tightly in the grocery store.  He was sure it would work out when he won the mega millions. I gave him $2 to to get me one also.

Lobsters taste with their feet

Tiny bristles inside a lobster’s little pincers are their equivalent to human taste buds. Meanwhile, lobsters’ teeth are in one of their three stomachs.

SUNDAY TALKING...

Our 2023 Thanksgiving is over at last.  I was able to enjoy three celebrations.  The first one was on the Saturday before with my siblings.

On the Sunday before our family celebrated with children, grandchildren and Granny Annie. My youngest granddaughter was the only one missed.  She had to work that day at the Vet clinic caring for all the boarded dogs and cats.

My third celebration was on the actual Thanksgiving day.  My new friend and I went to the home of his good friends and shared venison.  I have never liked it before but it was definitely cooked delicious by the experts.

Yesterday my daughter brought me over some leftovers.  Almost at midnight I became very sick at my stomach and decided the food had been held over to long.  Now I am curled up in a corner of my home trying to avoid the cold weather and explaining the Thanksgiving Blues to my doggy Frankie.

Hope all of you who celebrate the Pilgrims arrival had a wonderful time. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
