22 POUNDS

Joining the crowd, I was gaining weight during this pandemic.  Everyone was  complaining about all the food they were devouring to take their minds off the dilemma. This was not something I wanted to keep doing and then I remembered a story.

There had been a news program highlighting a woman in her 70's who had lost 120 pounds by walking 20 minutes a day in her one bedroom apartment.  I have a 1700 sq.ft. home and live on ten acres.  It would be easy to walk 20 minutes inside and/or outside.  That was my start. Now I am up to 1 hour each day and have lost 22 pounds.  Taking time to walk has also cut down on my eating time.😋

One thing that keeps me going is listening to books.  I download favorite authors free on my phone for audio books from the library and listen while I walk.   I am also using my cell phone to count the steps and track my calories. Ten more pounds loss will make my first goal.  Hope I haven't jinxed myself telling this.

  1. Twenty two pounds is an impressive achievement. Well done you. I haven't yet tried audio books. Some time. Perhaps.

    1. I wouldn't have all the audio books if I hadn't learned how to download them from the library for free. It's a wonderful service.

  2. As long as you don't starve yourself and get yourself run down. Eating healthy meats, fruits and whole carbs and if you are not allergic to any one, pace yourself and loosing yourself in your own time. I may not be giving the best but I am trying to make some sense.

    1. I don't even average 3 pounds a month so that's not too bad but I probably am not eating as healthy as I should.

  3. Congrats big time on shedding those 22 pounds. Just the opposite here, the dilemma we are in has made me lose my appetite and I am struggling to maintain. I am hoping I might work up an appetite by the exercise. Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Hi Annie...I've not had much of an appetite of late. But I am eating lots of fresh fruit...fruit is my "go-to...I love it.

    Take good care. :)

    1. I eat frozen fruit but I haven't got to the store to select fresh fruit.

  6. I also have a one bedroom apartment, but the rooms are small and filled with furniture, I could only walk in there by marching in place which is very boring. I haven't put on any weight during this pandemic, but haven't lost any either :(
    Congratulations on your 22 pounds!

  7. Excellent! A diet doctor who always battled her own weight and so knew what her patients went through tried an experiment one year. She usually gained 15-20 pounds a year and then had to work to get them off, just like some of her patients.

So one year she didn't diet, but made herself walk for 40 minutes, four times a week. Rain or shine, sick or well, in town or out, she did it no matter what.

At the end of the year she had not lost weight (eating what she wanted, not dieting at the same time) but she had not gained and stayed at her chosen weight. Her hips slimmed, her clothes fit better, and she had more stamina. Walking works!
