SOME THINGS

Can anyone tell me what these are and what they are for? Ron got them for me at an auction and the bidding was fairly high. He had no idea what they were but someone was trying to outbid him and that just won't do. LOL They do not have seams and the mouths are open. One is six inches tall, the other is seven.

MORE ABOUT FORTUNE COOKIES

We ate at the Chinese Buffet yesterday. Ron's fortune read: "Your charm has inspired a secret admirer."

On the way home he exclaimed, "What will we do when we get home and the yard is swarming?"

"Swarming with what?"

"My secret admirers?"

First of all, it was ONE secret admirer. Is that wishful thinking, an active imagination or plum craziness?

  1. LOL!! I believe they are cream decanters. I saw something similar in a hotel in NYC. The only difference was that the glass was a dark blue and more like the small birdie on the left. The waiter brought 2 of them over when our table was being served coffee. Very elegent! :)

  3. My guess would be that they are a pair of crystal cruets to hold vinagar and oil for salad flavoring---definiely something liquid to be dispensed with the spouts they have??

  4. I can see how Gary could be right, but I have no idea.

What's wrong with imagining hordes of secret admirers? I do it....LOL

  5. lol - I love fortune cookies, and that one's priceless. Remember to add "in bed" after every fortune. That's a rule...according to the show, Friends. ;)

I have no idea what those containers could be used for, but I'd put a fighter fish in each one with pretty blue rocks on the bottom.

  6. I really don't know what they are, but my sisters have an antique store. I could have them look sometime. Perhaps old glass candy dispensers. I like the fortune cookie, and for your husband, wishful thinking, I guess!

Is there an opening in the bottom? I ask because it would be way too hard to clean them out if you put cream in them and I was wondering if they could possibly be what you could stick in a potted plant, fill with water, and the water oozes into the dirt as it dries.....ahhh I got nuttin

  9. Nope Dana, no opening at the bottom. And, yes they are difficult to clean so the cream idea didn't appeal to me. They must be blown glass pieces and maybe don't serve any useful purpose.

  10. YOU are Ron's greatest admirer.
    That's no secret.
    :-)

I'd put M&M's in those things.
I have no idea what they are actually for.

  13. I'm with Jamie Dawn- candy!
Actually I think that it what they are for. You can shake out a handful of candy without sticking your grubby fingers in the bowl and getting germs on the other M&Ms. Not that I've ever worried about cooties on candy.
