Happy New Year

TALES END

Yesterday's post was a follow-up on my trigger finger post from October.  This caused me to realized some other posts from this year did not get conclusions posted, so here goes.

January you started on a weight loss adventure with me and Alli (Orlistat).  I lost 39 pounds over the following several months.  Then, in my efforts to put some weight on Ron during his bout with cancer treatments, I managed to not only handle the feeding, I joined the eating spree and have gained back 18 of the carefully lost pounds.  I keep saying I'll get back on target tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow...

March post titled "What the Beep, Beep is going on?",  I reported that we were hearing a strange beeping sound and could not pin point the source.  It turned out to be our cell phones constantly searching for a signal.

September you followed the tough decision I made to let the chicken cross the road.  Our fine rooster, Jack Bauer, went to live with the neighbors and their nice new birds.  This update of Jack today still finds him alive and very well as the cock of the walk with our neighbor's flock.

This entire year you have followed Ron's diagnosis of bladder cancer and reports of intense chemo and radiation treatments.  You have shared your wishes and prayers for his full recovery and you rejoiced with us when the first biopsy came back "no malignancy".  Since then they have reported the tumor gone and the second biopsy has also come back as benign. We are believing in an uphill climb.

This week we walked into a store we frequent.  There was a new lady there we had never met.  We introduced ourselves and ask if she was new.  She responded that she had been the manager for a year.  Suddenly Ron and I realized we had not been in that store for a year. It had seemed like we had just been there yesterday and it dawned on us that basically we had lost an entire year of our lives to the cancer battle.  No big deal since we could have lost so much more.

Thank you for your company on these journeys.  We have shared many of your adventures as well and look forward to sharing with you in 2012.

Christmas and the New Year approach and we are all going to be busy.  Before disappearing through the holidays I want to wish all of you
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
Happy New Year
and
Happy Happy!

  7. Dear Annie,

Big excitment at our house today. The men were here to lay down my Persian Carpets.I have had them on Lay-away at Abdul's Rug Emporium since 1965. Last week I was able to make the final payment on the rugs and have them delivered to my home.

They were hand made during the Byzentine Empire, hand knotted and tied by ladies of extreme talent. To say that they were worth a fortune is understating their value.

The men had just finished the installation and as we were all admiring the beauty and rich color and pattern of these priceless rugs, the door bell rang and it was Fed Ex with your package.

Wondering why the Fed Ex guy was wearing a yellow uniform,we allowed him in to put the package down and only then noticed that the egg yolks were running down his pantleg and being dispersed all over my new Persian Carpet.

    We quickly scrambled( Pun Intended)
to stop the golden flow of yolk from further ruining my carpet, threw the Fed Ex guy in Abdul's truck and took him to McDonald's where they made 500 Egg McMuffins; a portion of which are in the Fed Ex truck for delivery to your home. Invite the neighbors to breakfast on Friday..

We will discuss how much you owe me for the rug later.....

ancient one --Merry Christmas to you also. What have your goats predicted for 2012? I'm sure they have had a meeting.

Tabor -- Ron's recovery has made this the best Christmas ever. Can't wait to see what surprises you have in store for everyone in 2012. You are so diligent with your photos and writing skills.

Nancy -- That is a sad story. There must be some way to blame Fed-X. Big bucks in litigation that way:) You better slow down that imagination my friend:) Looking forward to some great stories from in 2012.

I wonder what I am waiting on? I am not expecting anything but I feel like something is missing. This has also been a different winter here where we live. I would not go out, even if I was able, to take pictures on a day like today.

  19. I missed out on many of those earlier happenings, but I enjoyed reading the followups. That is wonderful news about Ron. As a former oncology/chemo nurse, I can truly appreciate the significance of those benign findings. I wish him continued success in beating that awful disease and a Merry Christmas to both of you.

  21. I'm so happy to hear that Ron has had only good news about his cancer. Praise the Lord for that!

I fully understand about the weight gain. It's so easy to gain and so hard to lose. But you have kept a lot of it off, so that is still wonderful and progress made!!

I wish you and your family a very blessed Christmas season and Happy Healthy New Year!!! Hugs!!!

  23. Weight loss is not easy. It is a great accomplishment to loose about 39 pounds. Gaining back half of it is still a triumph. Don't be discouraged.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a very smart comment. I hope that I can tweet your quote.

  24. That's such great news about Ron. I haven't been around much over the last year due to a range of things. I know what you mean about the weight, I did exactly the same when Eric was diagnosed, As I cooked and baked to get him to eat I ate too!

Hope you both have a wonderful Christmas and a happy & healthy year in 22012.
