Out for a drive, I mentioned to Ron the large bull we had passed. It was seated in the corner of the pasture looking beyond the fence at the heifers across the road. The only time I could ever remember seeing as bull in such a pose was in the children's story book of Ferdinand the Bull.
Ron replied to me that the bull was probably "that old Indian".
"What old Indian?", I inquired.
"Sitting Bull" Ron replied with a grin.
Was that funny to anyone but me? I laughed and laughed but maybe because Ron is feeling so good these days that he is actually clever again.
Do you or your spouse entertain each other with spontaneous humor? Do your friends and/or co-workers get attention with funny remarks? Who is the funniest non-professional comedian you know?
Breaking News: If you want to laugh the rest of this day, go to Ralph Campbell's Homespun Headlines post for today.
Yeah the bull was a brother to that old Indian that got lost in the mountains many moons ago. They keep posting signs and wanting folks to keep an eye out for him. "Watch for Falling Rock."
ReplyDeleteI've been thru what Ron went thru and your clever doesn't actually leave it just takes a backseat to feeling lousy. Glad to hear he's back.
That's funny and I'm glad you got a good laugh like that - laughter being good for the soul. :)
ReplyDeleteMy niece Carla always says that I am hilarious, but I don't actually mean to be.
Welcome back, Ron! Happy you are feeling so much better.
ReplyDeleteI thought your Sitting Bull remark was very clever and I would have laughed if I had been there!
WAIT!I laughed and I WASN'T there.
yea for Ron and for you ~! what a great holiday gift to celebrate- renewed health and laughter. I am tickled for both of you..
ReplyDeleteMy partner makes me laugh non stop. No one else comes close.
ReplyDeleteLaughter is music, isn't it? And, hey, the joke was pretty darn cute, too :)
ReplyDeleteHow about Shooting Bull? sandie
ReplyDeleteThe funniest non professional I know IS my husband....Big C and I find the simplest of things HILARIOUS and we always say to one another that had we married someone else would they have found that funny or would they have looked at us like we were crazy!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHubby frequently puns me with something and I sometimes am funny in response. I can never remember them for the blog, though. I am SUCH an old fart! Glad to hear that you man is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteThat was funny - and I know you are glad to have him cheerful again.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I remember Ferdinand very well. I can just picture that bull. I've never seen one sitting like that.
ReplyDeleteI love the Ferdinand book. Mr. RK and I laugh constantly over silly stuff - it is one of the things I like best about him. So glad Ron is feeling well enough to be himself :)
ReplyDeleteTalon – Laughter each day does a lot more for us than an apple.
ReplyDeleteChatty Crone – Good one Sandie. I just might have to make that Ron’s new name. LOL
Brown English Muffin – I know exactly what you are saying. Basically laughter is what brought Ron and I together in the first place. It is a very important ingredient for a marriage.
Tabor – Isn’t that the absolute worst part…trying to remember and then when you try to tell about the humor it is never as funny as it was at that moment. What my kids always called “an on location situation” meaning you had to be there.
Judy (kenju) – That and I’m just glad to have him period!
Kay – We live in a large area of cattle and I am pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen a bull sitting down.
Riot Kitty – I do not doubt that you and Mr. R.K. are each other’s best audience. Yes it is so great to finally see that mischievous glint back in Ron’s eye.
Ron just made me grin
ReplyDeleteI could almost hear his delivery
my brother and I are pretty funny together
we get on a roll and can't stop
Absolutely! I often leave my wife not only in stitches, but red in the face and momentarily breathless with my sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteDianne -- My children loved nothing more than to get me tickled at the drive-in window at the fast-food restaurant. By the time it was my turn to order I was laughing so hard I couldn't speak and was crying.
ReplyDeleteG -- That description sounds like more than your sense of humor was getting to her:)
:-D
ReplyDeleteAlright.. The best nonprofessional comedian should be my brother. And after that I should say my husband. While, I guess they would rank me first, while I won't obviously :-P
We are all comedians here.. and Oh, mom too!
My hubby does this all the time and my daughter always says "Mom, don't laugh that's dumb" but it is funny to me LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, I thought it was funny. Glad Ron is better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the breaking news recommendation.
Ralph
Yes that was funny as was Cliff's comment about "brother" Falling Rock. Glad that Ron is making a comeback to his humorous self.
ReplyDeleteMe- I am sometimes so funny, deadpan, n witty that folks do spit takes.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm incredibly late at commenting sometimes...
