Freezing rain destroyed our beautiful pine tree at the front of the property several years ago. My son went into our woods and found two small trees to plant in place of the large tree. I did not believe either of these small trees would survive but they have...until now. This ice storm has enveloped both of the trees and one is almost on the ground. I am hoping it might pop up again when the thaw comes. Fingers crossed.
The ground around the collapsing trees is free of ice, but all the trees are covered. |
Here is a photo above the ground showing the ice laden trees. |
I also have to include one of my favorite funnies from this week.
Other Sunday Selections can be seen these places:

I so hope the tree does survive.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of winter, but yours has much bigger teeth than ours.
I hope the poor tree is able to throw off those silvery chains and rise up again.
ReplyDeleteWish I knew a dentist with a sense of humor to send that cartoon to!
I hope the tree makes it! And that cartoon is funny!
ReplyDeleteYikes on the ice. It is so brutal on trees. Hopefully it will spring right back after the thaw.
ReplyDeleteThat is a funny cartoon.
Hi there, I've just come over from 'EC' and River's selections ...
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed that the tree will be ok.
I love that cartoon!
All the best Jan
What Olga said. I hope your tree survives.
ReplyDeleteCute cartoon.
Hopefully the trees are strong enough to survive. I hope I'm strong enough to survive this damn heatwave we're having at present! Send down a few blocks of ice please, Annie! :)
ReplyDeleteEvergreen trees are quite resilient. Think good thoughts for them
ReplyDeleteHope they bounce back up.
ReplyDeleteEvergreens are usually pretty tough, I hope your trees make it. Trees are so important to the scheme of things.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope your tree survives.
ReplyDeleteI hope those small trees survive, I hope ALL the trees survive.
ReplyDeleteThe cartoon is funny, but I wouldn't go to a dentist who didn't offer real pain relief.
Thank you for joining in :)
Poor trees, I really hope they survive.
ReplyDeleteI was at the dentist on Saturday I should of asked him for some helium!
Sorry you have to worry about the two new trees. I didn't hear about the ice storm there due to week end absence of TV news. Ice can preserve plants too, as long as they don't keel over! I love pretending to be on helium n do the wiz of oz line ”Follow the yellow brick road!" Like a munchkin.
