SECOND FROM LEFT

This is my TBT post.  My maternal grandparents with my mother (Elizabeth, second from left) and her siblings.  All are gone.  How can that be? I wonder about them all the time and I continually start to pick up the phone and call my mom. Plus I see them in my brother and sister, my children and all of my cousins. My grandparents were passionate bird watchers so the bird house in the background is appropriate.

  1. I love these old photos, Annie. They bring back such good memories, don't they? And - that bird house was auspicious in telling the story.

  2. That is a great picture...the old photographs are such fun to look through. There is something special about them. Future generations are going to be overwhelmed with the pictorial records that are kept today.

  6. We all have these old photos, but even though the people in them aren't with us anymore, they're with us in spirit.

  10. Such a fine looking family. I am reminded when much loved family members leaves us it is rather like when the power goes off. We still keep flipping the switch expecting light.

  11. They look happy and like being together. It is hard to realize that death means gone and not just away for a while. I feel guilty about not sharing something and then realize that the someone has passed.

  14. A lovely photo.

Yes it is hard to believe it when the people we've loved are gone.

Funny I was just thinking about my granddad this morning. I spent hours with him when I was young,I was the first grandchild & he took me everywhere. I thought that I never appreciated him as much as I should have. Then I thought about my granddaughter, I spend a lot of time with her & really enjoy myself. So I wouldn't mind if she just takes me for granted. Maybe he felt the same, I hope so.

  17. What lovely smiles!

It's hard to believe that such lively people as we have once known can ever stop being alive.
