  1. Happy Independence Day to you young lady.
May all your fireworks go BOOM!... but not until you let go of them.

  2. Cliff -- It all started on the lake at about 10:00 last night just as we were going to bed. They get into some real fireworks competition around here. Hope your day is fun and safe.

  5. Happy Fourth of July
    Annie and Ron.......

I am leaving home now to go to our parade..When I lived in the big City we had a BIG parade. But, here in our little town our parade consists of four fire engines, three police cars, one Boy Scout Troop, several red, white and blue crepe paper bikes, and two decorated dogs....

The parade takes five minutes to pass by and then we all get a hot dog and drink..

I wouldn't miss it for the World.I get to see all of my friends and neighbors and we catch up on each other's lives..

Sometimes I talk so much I forget to get my hot dog!

Happy Fourth of July to you too!

LL Cool Joe -- And yet you guys are a big reason for our celebration:)

Nancy -- Missing the little parades and gathering in our previous Kansas town. And speaking of talking too much, you little namesake cat is the most talkative cat we've ever had. Have fun today:)

  11. Hope you had a good Independence Day there, n the weather gave you a break!

oooo- I wish I could eat with you n Ron!
All the stores are closed after a 6 day work-OT-week, so not much here today. Got pineapple juice, deck peas, deck beet greens, chocolate ice cream, n frozen home-made cheeseburger pizza again.
I bet you make good baked beans. My Mom used salt-pork, honey n molasses in hers- but I still can't duplicate them!

  12. Kay -- Bet you guys have some great celebrations in Hawaii. Yes it is safer at the lake as long as the fireworks fall back in the lake. Otherwise the surrounding areas are dry and brittle and I'm always looking out for a grass fire to start.

Riot Kitty -- Thanks. Yep it's pretty sad about Ashenhurst. I sure do miss the little guy.

Snaggle Tooth -- My baked beans are pretty good. Your mom's sound very delicious. What are deck peas and deck beet greens? Did you grow then on your deck? Actually it sounds like you came up with a pretty tasty celebration meal for yourself...especially the chocolate ice cream:) Ron and I would have welcomed you at our table.

  13. Hope you had a Happy 4th, Annie! I kept it quiet this year...at home with the family and our own fireworks, for a change.

  14. Scarlet -- It is sounding to me like a lot of us stayed home. Maybe it's because the 4th fell in the middle of the week. I know when I worked outside the home I would have only had the one day off. A quiet time with family is always THE BEST!
