LEAVINGS

This is the nice note paper Hope designed for me on her last visit.
Michael left this picture on my computer.  He was showing me how to use the camera.
Michael also left shirt and socks.  Hope left her cap and gloves.

Ryan left a pack of Monster drink.
Dillon left me interested in some sports programs.
Beth left me with tales of her daring and hilarious adventures with her best friend Bruschetta. (nickname not her real name.)

They all left me hooked on THE BIG BANG THEORY, iCARLY and SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS.
They all left me, as always, with wonderful memories added to the list of grandchildren visits.

  2. Mine did a better job of gathering their belongings than usual after their last visit. I found only two pairs of socks. I was also left with some lovely artwork. When my youngest grandson visits, I always remember his visit for days afterward as I come across items that are out of their usual places or that have been repositioned. He is one of those kids who can't resist touching everything!

  10. After hanging out with my grandsons I'm alot more keen on dinosaurs, superheroes, Pokemon, n all the new weird cartoon characters they like. The older 2 like Star Wars n Harry Potter movies n games which I do also-

Maybe you should devote a drawer to their left belongings to find when they return? Or do you mail them out?

  11. Tabor -- My grandchildren are getting so big that their visits are fewer and farther between. I try not to think about it Yes, please show us those $600 shoes. And while I try to avoid politics, I must say that I don't trade with businesses that hang their religion on the advertising and I don't vote for politicians who tout their religion as just cause for their election.

LL Cool Joe -- I knew you would be an iCarly fan. LOL My advice for you regarding your recent blog post is never argue with an idiot.

Susan Adcox -- I will never understand why I can walk through the house before they leave and check every room and receive every assurance from them that they have everything and still find something left behind. You've got an interesting question about naming children. That is totally the parent's job and not the grandparents unless they are invited to participate. Not only do the grandparents chime in with their two cents worth, the rest of the family usually wants to help also.

Sonny -- I believe that I always wanted to be a grandparent more than I did a parent. I had the absolute best two sets of grandparents growing up and was fortunate that they all four lived until I was an adult with my own children. Whatever your reason is for not having grandchildren, I know my older sister said the same thing and now, suddenly, she has seven grandchildren all under the age of 8. So you never know. LOL About the plants, I have to share a plant story. One company that I worked for changed from owning plants in the office to renting them from a company that would come in and care for the plants. Therefore the old plants were auctioned to the bank employees and I got a huge plant for $9 that would have cost a fortune to buy. I might have had that great plant a year before I killed it.

Lynn -- Thanks! They are lovely aren't they? Maybe sweet Lorenzo the artist in your post has grandparents that adore him. I hope so.

  12. Sparkling Red -- Isn't that paper cute? Thanks! Yes, I have known Sponge Bob for many years. LOL I sure could relate to your post about all the changes in your childhood home. Mine was more than changing decor -- we simply changed houses completely!

Kay -- Thank you! Well wonderful, beautiful and (sometimes) thoughtful. Wouldn't trade them for the world. Still laughing about Jonathan's unique arrival.

Chatty Crone -- Does that mean you know all the "leavings" including the shows? LOL You really got me off track today with your link to those amazing white pages. Yikes! I couldn't stop putting in information and looking at the satellite photos. Good? Bad? I just can't decide.

Ancient One -- "They just stamp themselves on our heart!!" Well said my friend. No doubt that Matti is doing that to you. Hope you got to soak up lots of her sugar.

Jean Mac -- Thanks. And thanks for the compliment on my header. I stole it off google images I was very happy to hear of Wayne's recent comment. It is so special when you receive such a gift.

Riot Kitty -- They are sweet...thanks! Now about your five things meme. I love reading it. Yes, I would pick you as Snoopy too. LOL

  13. Snaggle Tooth -- I'm way ahead of you. The drawer is established and full of socks primarily. However occasionally they leave items like a favorite shirt of much needed hat and gloves and those have to be mailed. And more about your pictures...yes, I do think I see a rat in a cat. LOL

  14. You are a wonderful Granny! They are so blessed to have you in their life.

  15. Dani -- At least I look good on paper. Not sure the kids would agree because I am a bit of a strict granny:) I so admire your beautiful garden and I am jealous of your beach walks. You are surrounded by all the beauty because your heart is filled with so much beauty.

  16. I love that you're a kid at heart. I think that's why we're kindred spirits. :)

Beautiful memories and I love the photos! Keep sharing!

  17. I find that being a grandmother makes me more understanding of my own grandmothers. It's surely one of the best roles we have in life.

  18. Scarlet -- I am such a "kid at heart" that when I was raising my two children as a single parent my dad would say that our household was in need of adult supervision. LOL Like you I was a chaperone on the trips and into all their activities. You hit it in you recent post when you called it almost cultish.

Pat MacKenzie -- I often think of my own grandmothers who never complained or got onto us. I'm afraid I'm not that kind when my grandchildren misbehave. However I never feel like they take me seriously. Your "Little Tiger" Ely doesn't look very fierce. She looks simply darned cute even though her "uniform" does make her bit saggy baggy. What a great day the two of you had.

  19. My Grandson, Ian, stayed with me for a week when he was about four and when it was time for him to leave ,his Mom asked him what he liked best about staying with Nanny.

He was very serious as he said that before putting on his shoes, Nanny got the wrinkles out of his socks real nice and when I made him waffles I put butter in every hole.

Who could ask for better compliments than those?

  20. Our latest from our farm resident 13 year old comedian grandson was over reacting to his Grandma today at lunch after Church. He ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and Grandma suggested we need to cut back on bacon. His eyes got big, his mouth dropped open and he said, "What, Bacon is what makes America, America."
I agreed. I did laugh though.
We thoroughly enjoy the g kids. I'm glad to see you do too.

  21. Nancy -- Loved that. Did you know we have a grandson Ian too? We stayed with them when he was little while their mother went to Italy. When she returned Ian ask her to make oatmeal the way Granny Annie did. I loved that. However I never can get butter in ALL the waffle holes.

Loved your story Friday at The Elder Storytelling place.

Cliff -- It is obvious how much we enjoy our grandchildren. This story of a 6 year old could have been one of my grandsons and I know you will enjoy it:

COFFEE HURTS -- I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 6-year-old daughter and I asked her, "What day is tomorrow?" She said "It's President's Day!" She is a smart kid. So, I asked "What does President's Day mean?" I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln etc. She replied, "President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment." You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose....

  23. Children are a gift from God. Isn't it wonderful how they all come in different wrappings! Love them grandbabies!!!

  24. Shionge -- Thank you. The grandkids are sweet....most of the time. LOL I have only eaten a couple of Pop-Tarts in my life and really didn't care much for them. I do love Pillsbury Toaster Strudel with the little icing packets you squeeze on them while they are hot. Yum!

Debbie -- I am always amazed at the persons in this world who do not consider children a "gift" and treat them as such a burden. Makes me wish I could wrap them all up and bring them home. I've even mentioned it to Ron a few times but he just won't go for it. LOL From your recent post it looks like the January birthdays in your family could take you to the poor house. Our big group of family birthdays are in November.
