Question Of The Week 11-7-11
Are your taken in by sensational headlines?
It seems there was a time we avoided picking up the National Inquirer and similar magazines because we knew there was only a tiny shred of truth (if any) to their outlandish headlines. Now it seems to ALL be tabloid news even in once respected periodicals. 'We grab the paper up or click on the link only to learn there still is no truth to the headlines. What recent splash caused you to read the story only to learn that it didn't come close to what had been trumpeted?
Here is a true headline for you: MAN WITH "TRUE GRIT" CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY TODAY! Amazing husband, father, grandfather, commodities guru and military hero named Ron:)
*Can you find me in the above picture?
Happy Birthsay Ron!
ReplyDeleteI get fed up with the newspapers - on the few times I actually read them - this is where the library comes in useful 'cose we definitley don't buy them - I think what a load of rubbish that we have to pay to read.
Very cool piece - that's you on the left. Correct?
ReplyDeleteI always get sucked into those stories on the opening news page of my email, but can't think of anything in particular. I do enjoy reading the covers of those tabloids when I'm in line at the grocery store. :)
And happy birthday, Ron!!!
ReplyDeleteHope this is one of the best ones:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ron!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any that I have been sucked into lately. My mother always read those tabloids and what was printed in them was the gospel truth as far as she was concerned, lol.
I am suspicious of most news items. Even the valid ones are often biased and incomplete.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ron!!
Happy birthday to Ron! sandie
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ron!
ReplyDeleteI try not to read any publication that has headlines like that. The Sun newspaper here in the UK is like that, and I'm proud to say I've never read it.
it actully seems most people are on the same page as i, and maybe that is why we blog. The sensational headlines turn me off.
ReplyDeleteHi Ron,
ReplyDeleteI was in the supermarket today and the tabloids all had headlines that claimed that today was your birthday and Kim Kardashian was leaving her husband for YOU...
Naturally, I didn't believe a word of it until I read it here at Annie's place. She never lies to me. SO,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR RON,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU..........
Happy birthday to Ron!
ReplyDeleteAre there headlines that aren't sensational?
Hi Annie ~~ Happy Birthday to Ron and
ReplyDeleteI am glad he enjoyed his meal, as I
only really enjoy breakfast, so know how he feels. They have to sell the
papers so headlines are important.
My back has eased a small bit, so hope for better days very soon. I am
so glad you like Sundays and my post AND that you are drawn to the sound of my bell. Last week you said, See you on the bus. So many thanks Annie.
Take care, Love, Merle.
I hope Ron had a wonderful Bday!
ReplyDeleteI must admit to clicking on some news headlines to find less than wanted info. Blog post titles get me everytime too!
Belated Birthday wishes to Ron
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for the birthday greetings for my husband.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually really sad to learn that the media twists things to just one perspective never giving us the truth.
