Ron and I were watching television last night and Ron muted the sound and turned toward me to talk.
"What do you think of this idea for a movie plot?" he asked.
He definitely had my full attention because, (1) he was talking to me without asking for a bowl of ice cream and (2) he was mentally preparing a script for Hollywood. Ron hates Hollywood. I scooted to the edge of the couch, sat up straight and gave him my full attention.
"Go on" I said.
Ron continued, "Everyone knows that we have underground bunkers to protect our world leaders."
I nodded yes.
"Well," he proceeded, "what if we were to be hit by a devastating nuclear or natural holocaust of some sort and the only people to survive were our political leaders in Washington safe in the bunkers? It would then be their gene pools that would start our new society."
As this post is titled, "HOW SCARY IS THIS THOUGHT?"

Well, we elected them so we only have ourselves to blame.
ReplyDeleteSome of them don't worry me, but all I can think of is Nancy Pelosi and BO having a child......LOL
ReplyDeleteYes Tabor, but we have an opportunity to clear the gene pool out this year. We might be able to find some in both parties that are younger, fresher and more honest:)
ReplyDeleteJudy your vision is funny but I'm picturing someone like McCain or Robert Bird and Jan Napalatano. LOL
Also we have to be aware that Bill would have a ticket to the bunker which would probabaly leave our future generation with a lot of Clinton look-alikes.
What a very scary thought. I will keep that thought in mind next time I go to the polls.
ReplyDeleteScary film indeed! I'd rather not survive that.
ReplyDeleteEeep! No thanks.
ReplyDeleteStella -- We all need to think about who we would like to perpetuate the human race when we go to the polls.
ReplyDeleteWinifred -- Are your political figures as frightening as ours when you think about them leading the gene pool of a new society?
Riot Kitty -- "Eeep" shall be my new expression of terror.
Now that's a scary thought:)
ReplyDeleteYep that's a scary thought and a good plot for a tv movie or even a tv show.
ReplyDeleteI just read a book by Vince Flynn where we were under nuclear threat and the President et al were sent to the bunkers.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, the CIA saved the day.
Hmm If we add in all world leaders surviving.... what a reality show that would make..... Love and Light, Nina P
ReplyDeleteHow did he ever think of that?! Hilarious! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour husband could be the next Stephen King!
ReplyDeleteLand sakes alive, what is he thinking?? That is a very scary thought!!
ReplyDeleteJeanMac -- Yep as if we don't have enough scary thoughts these days.
ReplyDeleteBonnie -- At least our grandkids won't be among them! LOL
Kay -- I just saw DEEP IMPACT with Morgan Freeman and they were sending all of DC to the bunkers.
Nina -- I'm not sure that would be a reality show I would want to see.
Sammy -- He must have had a real strange dream the night before.
lly -- H would rather be Tom Clancy. LOL
Rachel -- I haven't heard "Land sakes alive" in so long. I love it and shall begin using it again immediately!
ReplyDeleteWe have been to "The Greenbriar" in West Virginia and have seen the bunker for the Congress and Senate that was made in the 1940's or thereabouts. The local people who dug out the bunker under the hotel and deep into the mountain kept this a secret for many years. They had doctors, nurses, cooks, housekeepers, etc. who were willing to go to the mattresses on a moment's notice to care for and serve our government. They would keep things running in case of nuclear attack. Every bed had an assigned name of a congressman or senator. The infirmary held each congressman's medications. (These were changed immediately after an election) Then, some nosy reporter found out about the bunker and blew their cover, so it no longer was able to be used for that purpose. I assume that there is a new bunker somewhere, but I don't want to know where.
ReplyDeleteAbout O.B. and Nancy P. begetting a political heir.....ewh! Can you imagine an African American child with her big buggie white eyes???? Such a look of constant surprise..... scary is right!
I'd say it would be time to turn the chlorine in the gene pool up so high that nothing survives. It would give God a chance to start over.
ReplyDeletedo you think the politicians are bad people? i think that politics is a bad game that turns good people bad. power tends to do that.
ReplyDeleteof course, i'm in the middle of the 4th season of the wire....and tommy just became mayor - he's all bright eyed and he wants to do good by the city....but i know the series can't end well!
that's a horror movie right?
