LET IT THAW, LET IT THAW, LET IT THAW!

2010 FROZEN GRAND LAKE O' THE CHEROKEES

LAST PHOTOS OF FROZEN LAKE BEFORE THE THAW

We started out Sunday morning with a delightful heat wave of +3 degrees. By 1:00 PM the sun was shining and melting snow was pouring off the roof of the house and barn. Our temperatures reached 32 degrees and all of our fine feathered friends were allowed outside to soak up some good vitamin D.

We managed to go to the restaurant for lunch and I brought back my favorite lemon meringue pie. We did drive down the hill to the lake and I got some photos of it while it was still frozen.

Snow is lovely but it is equally lovely to see the sun and watch the white stuff disappear after such a long covering. We have not seen bare ground since Christmas Eve.

The predictions for temperatures by Wednesday are 54 degrees. Unbelievable!

If you missed my Sunday post regarding Ron's movie idea, be sure and read it today by clicking here:)

I believe you have until Tuesday to get in on ALWAYS NESTING's $25 TJ Maxx give away so be sure to check out that link on my sidebar.

  2. I'm jealous. The snow we have here is going no where fast. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. Strange thing is, there is loads to do here, but the feeling of being trapped forever saps me of any motivation.

And I'm jealous of Kenju too. ;p

Joe and I stopped the four year drought when we came to Florida last spring. Now we've broken the State's record for 12 degree nights and the first recorded snowfall!

Now we'll have to go home where rain and snow are NOT uncommon. Hold me while I have a break down.

  4. Glad you will have warmer weather soon! After our cold snap (10 degrees), 30 felt warm to me.

  5. I cannot get over the weather extremes everywhere....I did LOL when you said it was warming up to 13....! It has been very warm here, I'm happy to say, in the mid to hogh 70's....!

Why does Ron hate Hollywood?? I would love to know.

  8. Would you send some of that sunshine and warmer weather our way. Suppose to be 30 by Wed. but then we could get more snow. A white Christmas was nice but I'm done. Hope you are all melted by now. Have a good day.

  9. Contrary to the weather forecast (more snow) and LL Cool Joe's weather down South, our snow is thawing, but slowly. Didn't think I was used to Centigrade but I must be, I need to convert to Fahrenheit to compare temps. Yes between 37 & 41 for the next 5 days. A positive heatwave!

  10. Hello there

I heard on the news yesterday a country (can't remember which one) in Europe has floods with the big thaw that they just had. do you have problems with run off when it gets warmer
    Take care

  11. The lake does look pretty frozen. My pond is still frozen, but thawing around the edges, which makes the deer happy, as they can finally get a drink.

After 5 days of brutal cold, we reached 45 today in bright sunshine, and will be in the 50s by Thursday. Thank you, Lord!

Snow was not a problem here. We did have an inch two days ago, but it's all gone now.

Bet the chickens were happy to get out!

    Hugs,

    Renie

  15. You are lucky! No sign of a thaw here yet, with more snow tomorrow forecast. I was comforted by what LL Cool Joe said, because there is lots to do and i'm not getting on with anything. It's the feeling of being trapped, and I'm enjoying watching the birds searching for food. I MUST get on with some work soon. Will it ever thaw?
