MANY KINDS OF LOST

This week I learned about lamb's quarters (pictured above). At first I thought Ron has lost his mind when he came carrying a batch into the house asking me to cook the WEEDS! I cooked them in a small amount of bacon grease left from the family Sunday brunch and Ron, Michael and I agreed that they were well worth the effort. If you like spinach you will love lamb's quarters.

Yes, our dear grandson Michael is still visiting us. Bless his heart, he has been stuck with the old folks since May 25th. He is doing some work for me and for Grandpa. The trip to Colorado was a good diversion and his cousins visited over the weekend so that helped. Yesterday Michael and I went to the Cinema and saw LAND OF THE LOST with Will Farrell. We also went to the Game store, Walmart and Sonic.

Speaking of "lost" my son brought me Harlan Coben's new book LONG LOST. I'm not going to get time to read it for a while and it pains me to walk by and see it beckoning me.

We expect Hope to come stay with her brother on Thursday. We will then have both the kids until June 18th. They will then join their parents in their new Oklahoma home and all the lost will be found.

  1. When you say that he is stuck with the Old folks, I think of "On Golden Pond"..... He will do fine.

  2. My favorite memories as a ki were the few, rare occasions that I got to be with my grandparents. I bet you're growing some great memories for those kids and I ove it that you're so involved!

  3. Lambs quarters is one of the tastiest weeds in nature's garden! And it's free!

You are such a lucky Granny to be able to enjoy your grandon's company for several weeks.

  4. Nothing can warm a grandparent's heart like having a grandchild all to yourself.

My granddaughter, Sarah, will be visiting me this summer for the first time alone. I can't tell you how I am looking forward to that.

  8. I'm sure Michael is having the time of his life with you guys. It's a whole different experience, plus he gets all the attention, hence the cinema, game store, Walmart etc. I loved staying with my grandparents and I hope my grandchildren will love staying with me.

  9. I hadn't heard of eating lambsquarter. It's the main thing I've been pulling out of the garden for the past 3 weeks.
Eating it would be such great revenge.

  11. I took my daughter and her friend to see A Night At the Museum II last night and loved it. Land of the Lost is next.

I'm a HUGE Harlan Coben fan, so let me know how you like the book. I'm too busy to read it just yet, but I'll get to it.

  12. Speaking of "lost," I like the show LOST.
I can't figure out if Land of the Lost is stupid or funny from the previews, and you didn't tell us. My guess is kind of funny but mostly stupid.
I am sure Michael has really enjoyed having time with you and Ron.
