We were in the van heading down a busy street last week. Ron suddenly started making an unexpceted turn into a parking lot.
"What are you doing?" I inquired.
"I'm going to get that good pocket knife." he stated.
"What are you talking about?"
"That good pocket knife in the road."
"If anything, that's a stick. What makes you think you could identify a pocket knife at that speed and that distance much less call it a GOOD pocket knife?"
Well, here is what he retrieved from the middle of the road. It's an Old Timer pocket knife in good condition.
Okay, so I'm blind. I might as well admit that I'm deaf too.
Ron really has sharp eyes. I'm happy he found a really good knife.
ReplyDeleteHe's got the eyes of an owl.
ReplyDeleteTalk about Hawkeye!
ReplyDeleteHe is so much like my husband who seems to see 'good' stuff everywhere. Thank goodness he did not get hit by a car!
ReplyDeletewhen a man sees something he wants, he gets it----damn the torpedos, full speed ahead. Not like women who can window shop for hours, and come home with nothing.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Tell him I said congratulations on having such good eyesight!
ReplyDeleteI would have missed that. In fact, I probably would have run over it and ruined a tire :)
ReplyDeleteI showed this post to Matt and the 1st thing he said was "Hey, that's a good pocket knife" anyway - men!
ReplyDeleteI betcha if you had asked him to find something you needed in the grocery store he would come home with the wrong thing but leave it to a man to make sure and pick up the "good" pocket knife off of a busy street.
Wow! That's the kind of man you want at the wheel...one with good radar.
ReplyDeleteNow Annie, you know he just couldn't leave it there.....Finders Keepers, losers weapers.
ReplyDeletequestion: granny, in all of your expertise, do you not find it odd that a man can spot a perfectly good pocket knife while driving down the road at incredible speeds, yet cannot for the life of them find things like "fennel" at the grocery store? peculiar, is it not.
ReplyDeleteI have been catching up on reading blogs. I have yet to post anything this month. I haven't felt well, had some cardio tests this week, so now I am reading blogs. My husband would pick up things from the road all the time, he had a good eye. Your pictures are nice and I see that you are enjoying you new internet connection.
ReplyDeleteRon has a keen eye for manly things. If that had been a diamond bracelet, you'd have spotted it for sure!!
ReplyDelete:-)
Taylor spotted a hat once that was in the gutter when we were in Savannah, GA. Taylor likes to wear fedoras, and that's what he spotted. We turned the car around thinking that the hat HAD to be a hideous piece of junk, but it turned out to be clean and a very nice looking black fedora. Taylor has it right alongside his other hats.
Looks old and very polished.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather could spot things like that. It's a nice knife...glad he didn't get run over while he was "saving" it. Glad, too, that you are enjoying quicker internet. I'd be so lost without mine.
