I have family and friends who are more precious to me than Republicans or Democrats. They strongly and often post their opinions of political issues and I refrain from commenting. I also refrain from posting my opinion on issues because I don't want to lose those friends on either side of the aisle. I support their rights to voice their beliefs and hope they do not think I don't love them because I don't comment on their blogs or click "like" on Facebook. It is because I love them that I don't. Just so you know....just sayin'.
I try to do likewise--- I'm successful most of the time. The whole world is talking in bumper-sticker phrases. Better to look at the trees and flowers--and vote your conscience. Good on ya, Annie.
ReplyDeleteI mostly avoid politics too. Yours and ours.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the hysteria over who is in office. My life goes on.
ReplyDeleteI try to do the same unless I know I am in a like minded group. I am certainly not going to kick a family member or friend to the curb just because they pull a different lever than I do.
ReplyDeleteBest to keep out of those conversations.
ReplyDeleteSmart, very smart. If someone is willing to have a rational discussion with me, and agrees that in the end we may not agree but we will still be friends, i will talk. If not, let's drop it now.
ReplyDeleteA wise approach. I wish I was wiser. Sometimes I can just not contain myself.
ReplyDeleteSometimes saying nothing is the wisest move.
ReplyDeleteI am a moderate Republican whose friends are mostly like minded souls sprinkled with the occasional open-minded progressive. I usually confine my political verbiage to the state level (guv'ment employee so what happens state-wide affects me immeasurably). I do have a few friend who swing far to left, so more often than not I become the token punching bag for all things GOP, fairly or not. I do know that because of TDS, I had a long time friend unfriend me & block me because of comment made about their country's leader (innocuous at beat), so that shows that TDS is cross-borders. Overall though, the glitches have been few and far between.
ReplyDeleteI never pass on things that say too, but will click li9ke on them if I agree. Hate feeling prodded to advertise what I do not want to.
ReplyDeleteYou are very wise Anne. Friends and family are more important than politics.
