SCORPION
Question Of The Week 07-16-18
What is the most frightening insect you have ever come across in your home?
A spider about 6 inches in diameter in my bathroom in Florida. I threw my bug chasing cat into the bathroom and shut the door. In the morning the spider was gone and the cat was safe.
We often, like many Australians, get red-backed spiders in the house. I am more worried about the ones I don't see than the ones I do (and carefully escort outside).
Years ago, when living at the Sunshine Coast my ex discovered a scorpion on the floor of the bathroom one day. He came out to me laughing, telling me I'd not fooled him with the "rubber scorpion".
I told him I had no idea what the hell he was talking about.
Upon closer inspection, we discovered the "pretend scorpion" was a real, live and kicking one.
I guess it didn't scare him or me, because I am a Scorpio!!
Two of those gigantic water bugs heading down my hallway one night when I got up to go to the bathroom. I set off the motion detector light when I passed it, and saw them. One of them actually flew to the other wall! Fortunately - I had my flip flops there, where I normally wouldn't have left them, and beat them to death. :)

ReplyDeleteMoths are a nuisance but they don't scare me. I don't care for them much.
Deletethey are ALL frightening!
ReplyDeleteAll bugs aren't frightening to me, but they can drive me crazy. Lately a few grasshoppers have invaded us and I do carry them out if I can catch them.
DeletePoisonous and painful. Rarely deadly.
ReplyDeleteFrightening? None. Annoying and repulsive are the cockroaches and earwigs, the slaters and the spiders that come in from the garden seasonally.
ReplyDeleteOur red-backed spider is your black widow. More deadly are the funnel-web spiders and the trap-door spiders, but those two rarely are found inside.

ReplyDeleteAt work there was a huge drain Centipede! I didn't know until looking it up later the bites are poisonous!
