WIN OR LOSE
Question Of The Week 05-14-18
Did you ever file a lawsuit in small claims court? Did you win or lose? Did you ever wish you had filed a lawsuit?
Not a single one. I would rather not. I once almost had to testify in court for a gent that went on a mail stealing spree. He got mine and in doing so got outgoing checks from 3 different accounts. Not only did I have to close all accounts, I was TERRIFIED at the thought of having to testify. He settled at the last minute and I escaped unscathed.
I wish I could file a lawsuit against my neighbors who raise pigs. They don't properly care for the pigs and keep them in tight spaces. There is no place for the pigs to get out of their muck and the odor is terrible.
While I also had mail stolen, it never went to court that I knew. I am glad I never had to testify but I also realize it is a citizens responsibility to do so. If everyone took a back seat the crooks win.
I got close to but never did. It was when I ran my graphic design and print business and I had a customer that just wouldn't pay for the work I did for him that ran into hundreds. I did get a solicitor involved but in the end his fees were higher than the money owed so I just let it go.
My Ex did, when a repair shop let his jeep run unattended without oil Pressure n seized the engine, (while we were married) . I testified on his behalf (after divorce), He won several thousand dollars, but he did not share any of it with me! So when he wanted a relationship again it was a point of "no way". He was so selfish n never helped support his children. He died owing me tons of money last year.
Of course I have threatened to sue work tons of times, n could! Just a pain to do so, as you know.
No, but I had an auto accident when I was 20 years old that gave me a concussion and injured my back. I probably should have sued over my injuries, but didn't. I was broadsided by a speeding ice cream truck, of all things. :)

ReplyDeleteI threatened once or twice, but now I can't even recall what it was over. So no. Never had to. Thankfully.
ReplyDeleteWe did once - my SIL to be canceled the wedding to my daughter- and we had put a lot of money down in places - got half of all of it back.

ReplyDeleteI did and I won. The amount I was awarded was just enough to buy my first desktop computer and a desk to put it on.

ReplyDeleteI once attended court after a traffic incident. I was the injured party but I was such a nervous wreck I vowed never to go to court again.
