Question Of The Week, 10-12-15
Where do you find inspiration?
Family Friends Strangers Religion Music Movies Non-fiction Fiction Listening Arguing Debating Day-dreaming Etc.
Depends why I need to be inspired. If say it's for blog posts it's a combination of real life and what I read in the newspaper. If it's fashion, then it's music videos. If it's creative stuff then it's visual stuff everywhere. etc. The internet can be a great place to be inspired.
Sometimes a certain dish of food, always my grandkids (more specific than family), an unexpected conversation, my photography walks, sweet soft dogs, birds doing their thing, the beginning and ending in the day, and all in your list.
Jan, I just saw the movie THE WALK with my sister and while it was based on a true story I doubted some of the things. So I went to documentary from years ago called MAN ON WIRE that was the true story and most everything in the movie was correct. I loved that.
Lisa, you are so right. I have nylon knit and crochet hooks and each time I make a scrubby every stitch is a prayer for the person I'm making it. The stack is calling to me. By the way I haven't been able to post on your blog for a while but I will try again.
That is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. It depends. Many of the things from your list. Nature quite often. History. And other people can inspire me to emulate them - or to strive to be different.
Elephant's child, very profound thought. I am pondering those you make me strive to be different. You would go in the category of those I would want to emulate :-)
Susan Adcox, where have you been girl? I've got to get back on track because you definitely are a person who inspired me to think about my grandchildren a lot!
Sparkling red, sleep is a big inspirational component for me too. For some reason lately my sleep has been sporadic. However I have some weird dreams that are also inspirational.
My fav mind-bender has always been Sci-Fi. I re-discovered Larry Niven work the past few years- Had not remembered he wrote all the teen stories that got me hooked- (Lucifer's Hammer, Inferno ) He wrote something just last year with a co-author. Guess he's still on Earth- My mind isin't!
Mostly all I have to inspire me is your questions... n silence! I've always loved your questions btw-
S.T., silence is excellent. I remember when it used to be hard to come by. Now it is available a lot more and I forget to appreciate it. Glad to know you like the question of the week. I hope I can stay with it again.
Your list is a good start. I would add my observations of life around me. Silence isn't easy to come by in my house, but when I do have it, my mind soars into places full of inspiration. Sometimes it comes in the middle of chaos when you least expect it.
I agree with Snaggle Tooth above about science fiction. Lot's to think about in those books.

I'm most inspired by solitude and being in Nature - it's in the quiet that ideas come forth.
