How do you see your day-to-day life? Did Thanksgiving leave your glass feeling half full or half empty? What do you expect through the rest of the holidays? How do you generally look at your life?
Thanks to my sister Elenore for this question of the week.

Without any one in the family for company this entire holiday week, n not getting to celebrate anything or relax at all- my glass feel completely dry!
ReplyDeleteI did cook a turkey leg, but food doesn't fill my life up. Spending time, even with whiny n wild kids milling about making a mess is certaily preferable! n a ton more fun...
My expectations for Xmas are also low...
Oh I'm a miserable git, the glass is always half empty with me, and yet I live a blessed life. I'm just an ungrateful sod I think.
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate Thanksgiving, which is just as well with me around!
For the first time ever, Thanksgiving was not held here on the farm. Instead we pulled my son's enclosed aluminum trail to Loveland, CO and moved my fil from his rest home there to one here near us.
ReplyDeleteIt was against his will (mostly) and it took a lot of work to load and unload plus we put 160 gallons of gas thru our Denali in just 3 days.
Our glass is empty but expect it to refill quickly.
Happy full, of course. But I am sort of not looking forward to Christmas - I wish it could just be about celebrating Christ's birth, the music, lights and festive atmosphere, but I am already getting the "what do you want from Santa?" questions. :) I realize now that I gave a somewhat grumpy sounding reply to an email last night, by saying "I don't want or need anything." But it's true.
ReplyDeleteHa! I said Happy full. Maybe that should be a third answer. One thing's for sure - I have a very loving family and should be more grateful that they want to buy me presents. :)
ReplyDeleteEach year it gets a little harder for me to get in the Christmas spirit. Can't explain it. It's just a vague feeling of emptiness that hits every year during the holidays. Like something is missing.
ReplyDeleteThe two glasses are a good reminder of how we may need to look at situations in general. I tend to look at things as "half-full".
ReplyDeleteThey say "Be Thirsty to achieve higher and higher goals", but my answer would be half full.
ReplyDeleteSnaggle Tooth – I remember some holidays of my own that were like that. It is tough.
ReplyDeleteLL Cool Joe – What is a “git”? Sorry you are a miserable one especially when I suspect you are surrounded by so much love.
Cliff – That had to be a depleting ordeal but there is no doubt that your glass will be completely full again soon.
Lynn – “Happy Full” is now a third option plus I think I shall adopt it as my new personal statement on how my life is going. My one sincere gift for Christmas is only to see all my loved ones with “Happy-full” glasses.
Rae – My family members that are gone only serve to make every holiday a little less. Without my parents and grandparents, it falls to us to keep the family traditions alive and none of those traditions were framed around gift-giving. They were always framed around the spirit of Christmas.
Carol – Your smiling face shows that you are a “half-full” kind of gal.
My glass is always half full - even today when I'm throwing off some dreaded lurgy and have a jaundiced view.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me -I'm feeling better already.
Okay - I chose to make myself see things as half full. I used to be much more negative. My life was negative. I started doing more positive things with the Lord's help and walla! I still get down sometimes, but I am much quicker at getting up!

Monalisa -- Even if it's half full we're still thirsty:)
ReplyDeletePat -- Yes, we all have to be reminded from time to time to count our blessings.
Chatty Crone -- Directing ourselves toward positive things is a good start for everyone.
The older I get, the happier I get - maybe perhaps because I realized that you are happier when you realize it's half-full.
ReplyDeletePS Love the sign about chickens and their motives!
ReplyDeleteI have always been a glass-half-full kind of person. There is always a silver lining somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI am half full kind of Gal to like Judy and I am thankful for being so blessed :D
ReplyDeletewell. first i'm back. all un-engaged and everything. and i missed you!!
ReplyDeletelove the chicken quote on the sidebar!!!
i must say that this Tgiving, i had a lot to be thankful for. i always do. but we all know i have a tendency for the pessimistic side. it's an effort, but i really have nothing to be sad about :)
I'd like to say half full but sometimes, I must confess, I see it as half empty..
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I see it has half full and the empty part was the part I've already enjoyed :)
ReplyDeleteMy boot...or glass slipper, if you prefer...(boot works for me) is full. So grateful for my many blessings...How we look at life, makes the difference.
ReplyDeleteAfter my Thanksgiving, it will be a while before I feel half empty. Too much food. But, seriously, every holiday leaves me feeling very full and fulfilled. We're so lucky to have a family that gets along and loves each other, and family members that always manage to be here on holidays.
ReplyDeletenot empty, not even half!
ReplyDeleteLots of wonderful words of wisdom from everyone. I always see my glass as 1/2 empty but this Thanksgiving it was definitely, to quote Lynn, it was "Happy Full". Not sure if it was because of the grandbabies, or the fact that we shared cooking responsibilities so no one got overwhelmed or the fact that the whole family, in laws and out laws included, got along exceptionally well, lol.
ReplyDeleteRiot Kitty – Honestly have to agree with you that the older I get the happier I get. I’m so glad you like the chicken sign. You never commented on my Karaoke cats. I thought you would love them.
ReplyDeleteJudy – And have you seen the price of that silver lining lately? It is well over $30 an ounce.
Shionge – You always sound happy.
Blunt Delivery – Don’t worry, Be happy now:) That’s a mean thing to say isn’t it? LOL
Kitty Moore – Not a good time to be asking you such a question.
Talon – What a great answer!
Brighid – So true – “How we look at life makes the difference”.
Susan Adcox – Our family is blessed also with enjoyment of each other.
Whitemist – That’s good, as I understand it.
Bonnie – Grandbabies always make holidays “Happy Full”.
I'm def a half full person, god made life simply too beautiful to every describe it as empty.
ReplyDeleteI try and I try - most days:)
