QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Do you crave justice for a past unkindness you or someone you know has experienced but for various reasons you know it is best if you simply let it go...or do you hold a grudge?

  1. I let it go. This after a couple of expensive years of therapy 20 years ago. In fact - that's the biggest thing I learned from therapy, that you have to find a way to get over things and not internalize them.

  2. Let it go....I don't need any added weight:)

  3. I am big on letting it go unless it is creating an unnecessary rift or it is something that hurts other innocent parties. But I only go there if I can make it better...and being a coward I prefer to do it over drinks.

  4. I don't hold grudges. It takes too much effort to keep it. I am over and done with my anger right after it happens.

  5. Good question and I have had a couple of times in my life that I have had some serious thoughts of holding grudges forever!

The biggest was against my sister in law - who I felt had a lot to do with my brothers untimely death.

It ate me up and was damaging me a lot more then her. She had no idea I knew what I knew or what my opinion of her was.

I spent a lot of time in prayer - I mean a lot of time - and finally was able to leave all of it with God.

That was years ago and I am so glad I was able to do that.

So try to let it go and pray.

  6. I am trying very hard to let things go. Life is too short to focus on the bad things. Grudges held and resentments are not good for our stress levels or our general health. Cayce said they cause arthritis, among other things.

  7. Well I seem to be a minority here, but I am really good at holding grudges. They are few and far between but I do hold them.

  8. I've learned to let things go...life is too short and it can be such a corrosive energy...and so often the person you're holding the grudge against is oblivious to your pain so it seems even more pointless. Life often does, I've found, have a way of dealing with those who treat people badly.

  9. It is only recently that I have made a conscious effort to let things go - otherwise the resentment just eats at me.

    (But do I forget? Never ;) )

  10. ooooo... great question..

i think we all secretly hope for revenge even though I do try to let stuff go and not let it have power over me.

maybe thats why we all say we believe in karma. its an unspoken justice.

  11. I will let it go because 'letting go' is for ourselves ;D

  12. I generally think Karma takes care of the revenge for me- I don't do it, tho hope some x-bosses n nasty folks get their due sometimes!

  13. Each response was very interesting. It seems the majority goes for "letting go". I know that there was a time I was keeping evidence for a law suit under my bed. As the evidence piled up, so did the anguish in my head. One day I carried it all to the trash and let go of the whole problem. However, I did read somewhere that revenge is more healing than forgiveness. I think rosaria summed it up with her comment, "It depends".

Thank you all for you comments. I have a lot of smart blogger friends:)
