CHANGED FOREVER

JeanMac at Welcome To Our World has changed my life as I know it forever. She published a recipe for DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG. I immediately made this cake and here it is. I could not get a picture to turn out of it in the microwave all puffed up above the cup, but it does that and don't let that alarm you -- it is okay. Imagine this serve hot with vanilla ice cream! It says adding chocolate chips is optional but I think it is mandatory.
Note in the comments a friend has told us this contains 948 calories!!! Ouch.
Recipe
DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG
1 coffee mug
4 Tbsp. flour (plain, not self-rising)
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
3 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. oil

Small splash of vanilla
3 Tbsp. chocolate chips, optional

Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork. Add egg, mix thoroughly. Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well. Add chips, if using. Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts. Cake will rise over top of mug--do not be alarmed! Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired. Eat!

  5. Now that just looks downright yummy! With or without the ice cream! I have never heard of making them in cups before. I made some in ice cream cones once.

  6. Annie,

    Don't worry about those calories.
I'm a little chubby and what I do is this":

I NEVER eat anything in front of anyone. I never let them see me eat one bite. THEN, when I tell them I have a Thyroid problem, they believe me.

Making cake one mug at a time is right up my alley.I could make that cake disappear in 30 seconds;nobody would be the wiser....

  8. Hi there!
I love this! It must be simple if you can make it in a mug. Is there any way you can post the recipe? Looks so yummy! Thanks!

  9. I managed to knock the cals down to 497 and the kids gobbled it up. I think I over cooked it a little. It could be my microwave or the fact that I substitued applesauce for some of the oil. The flavor was still good and I love the lightning quick pay off! I'm glad you shared.

  10. Brooke, I added the recipe to my post but you should visit JeanMac anyway. She's a great blogger. Nancy, thanks for the good tips, as always. OGO, glad you reduced the calories and glad you tried out the cake. Sammy, I doubt this is anything you need to make right now...It could be a real craving item for a pregnant gal. Rachel, I've heard about those ice cream cones. You should print that recipe. Scarlet, I'm not much on sharing either.

  14. This does look yummy, and I think if I do make it, it will be the way Oh Great One, did it, with abit of applesauce to replace some of the oil. I however have also really cut down on protions, I could easily get 3 slices out of this, served with some lowfat icecream or frozen yogourt..A little goes a long way lol.

  16. Wonderful! Thanks so much for posting the Recipe. I'm going to try this using whole wheat flour, eggbeaters, skim milk and replace the oil with applesauce. I'll toss in the chocolate chips for good luck. Let's see how this comes out. I'll let you know. I'll make sure to check out her blog as well. Scarlet got me into this blogging thing, so I'm always looking for good bloggers. Thanks again and God Bless!
