FRIDAY FUNNIES ON SATURDAY

And on a personal note, I completed the Ayala Art Challenge for September 2017.  29 Faces in 29 Days.  I decided to sketch daytime television stars from game shows, soap operas, reruns of old shows, etc.  Here is a collage of my completed work.  Do you recognize anyone?

TIME REVISITED

Here is my story for the WORDS FOR WEDNESDAY post.  Since this is posting so late, I will add funnies tomorrow.  Go to Fools Rush In by Granny Annie to see the prompts for the final week in September that I have used here.

TIME REVISITED by Granny Annie

The beginning of the Vietnam War seemed arbitrary. Men and women selected for battles that made no sense to them. Suddenly, one day, the diminution took place and the United States abandoned the war.

Every President of the US had done what seemed plausible to each of them wanting to temporize their own immense greatness. Meanwhile, the military of both sides seemed doomed to Pandemonium.

The Press could only garble with false élan while many people in America were perfunctory and others could only bifurcate.

The images seemed vermicular as we watched the reenactments on television. We were definitely not left with anything that was toothsome.

Be sure and say "Thank you for your service" to a veteran today.

PBS THE VIETNAM WAR

Question Of The Week 9-25-17

What was the last thing you recorded off TV?

I have been recording all of THE VIETNAM WAR series on PBS. It is painful to watch but very educating. Shame on all of those who spit on our returning military from that horrific war. It was not a fight of their choosing.  God save all of our military volunteers now.

I've never recorded anything...we are SO behind the times lol.

Dance with the Stars - do you watch that?

I only watch shows from the DVR. Too many commercials.
The Vietnam War, but haven't watched any episodes yet. If it's a Ken Burns program - I have to watch.

I have never recorded anything either. I don't know how!

I record EVERYTHING from shows, news and sports. Can't remember the last thing I saw live. I am too old to waste 20 minutes of very hour listening to commercials.

Although I never watched TV, I really wanted to watch the 3 part series called Little Boy Blue, I've only seen part one so far and it was excellent.

I have heard lots of good things about Vietnam. And our Vietnam vets were also treated shamefully.
My partner tapes things. I don't.

La La Land :)

I'm not recording anything. The DVR is on my husband's tvs. I was watching Vietnam, but had overlap overload.

I can record four programmes and watch a fifth simultaneously; not that there is much worth watching on free-to-air TV at present. I'm mostly streaming shows on Netflix and Stan..totally addicted.

I recorded last night's 6 pm news bulletin...purely for the weather forecast. I'm sick to death of what's going on in the "real" world...so I prefer to "escape"....

And, Annie...I'm with you wholeheartedly on the shame on "those who spit on our returning military"....similar occurred here.

I have only the utmost admiration for our men and women of the Forces.

It's been so long since I have recorded anything at all, maybe a Nascar race a long time ago when we weren't going to be around to catch it live.

We record every Manchester United game so I can watch them! We also record Seth MacFarlane's new show, The Orville. (Rob)

Nothing from the TV in a long while, so I can't remember what the last thing was.

Same here . I do not like to record any thing from the TV. I thought that it was illegal.

I also record the PBS series on the war. I watch it, but not right before I go to bed! I also record Fareed Zakaria's weekend show. And lots of British mysteries. I watch way too much TV.

WORDS FOR WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY FUNNIES COMBINED

Here is my WFW story using the prompts supplied by Granny Annie of Fools Rush In.
And here are the words for this week:

edacious
crucible
gauche
melee
inhere
fester
                    and/or
bona fides
schadenfreude
chthonic
regimen
manumit
splenetic

CHEF SCHOOL by Granny Annie

The class was posed to be totally edacious. There was nothing I would enjoy more. We would cook our own food and then serve it to the judges. The table places were set with fancy dishes and drinks would be poured into each crucible. To most it would appear a bit gauche.

Some of the chefs began to argue about the menus of others. It was totally unnecessary but still it was not long before a melee ensued. The riot made the kitchen a total mess before we could realize what we were doing. Many a substance would inhere and probably fester.

The judges could not see bona fides in these actions but they did enjoy the schadenfreude. It was almost certain many of us would be doomed to chthonic. Our instructor, a famous chef, was furious and felt his regimen in ruin. He apologized to the judges and sent all of us home as if we were manumit. We were not sure if we would ever return to his class knowing he would be forever splenetic.

THE END (Thank Gawd!! Who came up with these awful words?)

AND HERE ARE THE FRIDAY FUNNIES TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD A BIT.

WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS

Question Of The Week 9-18-17

What was the last song you danced to?

I honestly can't say what it was. It has been a long time.

Danced with somebody? Or danced around the kitchen alone while just about anything played on the radio?

I'm afraid I don't dance but I bounce a little to 'the oldies'..oh wait...I'M the oldie and EVERYTHING bounces. Shoot.

Mus have been a Millennial song at a wedding I am guessing.

Pretty Woman every Fri. night with my hubby. We are known for it.

The last time Cindy and I danced was to Bob Seger's Old Time Rock And Roll at a Fourth of July celebration in Easley SC ;)

Ron was working on an old house and when I went to see what was going on, Waltz Across Texas was playing on the radio. He took me in his arms and we danced across the dust and debris. It was a joyful moment for both of us

It was at a wedding reception--I didn't know the name of the song so it was not an oldie.

Ah it's been years and it was a wedding ceremony where girls were singing song while beating drum .

I am sure at someone's wedding! lol

Oh dear, it has been too long. Need to correct that.

Too long ago to remember. My feet still tap out the beat though.

What a nice question! I actually slowed danced with my hubby (at a wedding) to Ed Sheeran's - "Thinking Out Loud" It was nice! :)

Grannie Annie, I love your memory.

Last time I danced was Octoberfest to some Octoberfesty song. It was so fun!

I was rocking along to the "Amazing Rhythm Aces" earlier today...just me and me...with my two furry mates trying to ignore me, hoping I wouldn't ask them to join me!

Love Shack!

Love the imagine of you and Ron dancing in the old house.

"Follow You, Follow M" by Genesis. Probably at our 25th wedding anniversary.

FRIDAY FUNNIES 9-15-17

And on a personal note, here is a selfie picture my granddaughter Beth had posted on her Facebook page.  I had to steal it because it is so sweet.
