Loved all the answers to favorite childhood toys Question Of The Week so wanted to share them here with everyone.

A stuffed dog. He was known as pink puppy (though he stopped being pink after the nurses sterilised him during a hospital stay) and went everywhere with me. A much loved animal.
And I chose him myself. My parents took me to a toy store and lined up a selection of stuffed animals. I chose pink puppy. They mixed the toys around - and I chose him again.

I had a beautifully made golliwog. Crumbs not PC nowadays but he was gorgeous. Just thought of him like a teddy bear, not a person. Not sure what happened to him. My other favourite was a fairy doll, she was so pretty.
Not sure what happened to them, I think my Mam threw them out when she moved. Wish she had asked me if I wanted them. I'm such a hoarder I would still have had them.

I had a barn set--the barn, the farmer couple, all the animals. My Uncle Al gave it to me for Christmas and loved it.

I honestly did not have lots of toys and cannot remember a favorite, but I did love my real dog! I had a little doll collection but they were for putting on the shelf and not playing with.

A very large panda bear that started my lifelong love of pandas. I still have him in a special place in my home.

I have a doll that I named Sally that supposedly came from Santa when I was 4. I'm pretty sure that my uncle bought it for me as my parents were in dire straights that year.

I had a stuffed Pluto dog and actually still have it. We used to have one of those dolls you show - can't think what would have happened to it.

Like Olga, mine was a plastic farm though I don't remember the farmer couple, only the creatures. I often took the farm animals to bed with me, especially the horse.

The barn cats. They were my favorite playthings, but I could never figure out why they all ran away when they saw me coming? ;-D

Model horses, which are in a storage place right now - there are so many! Then there is a hand-down old tatty velvet doggie somewhere in there too...

Oh, I missed my chance to answer last time! I still have my Raggedy Ann doll, which was handmade for me by a family friend before I was born. Her face is literally threadbare. Close behind in second and third place were a stuffy called Floppy Kitten and a beanbag dog called No Bones. :-)

I had a tin full of batteries, light bulbs and wires, and I loved making little circuits and stuff like that.

  1. That's so neat that you posted all the answers! I love reading everyone's responses. I'll post a pic of Pluto one day. Right now he's just in a box in the closet. I have a spot in my bedroom in which I could hang a display case and have been waiting for just the right one to appear, so he can be displayed.

  5. Yes we were lucky. We didn't have much money but I think my Mam did without a lot to make sure we had some toys & books.

  6. Interesting to read, we are all of an age. Mine would be a metal barn with all the cowboys and critters. The horses and cowboys were my favorites, one cowboy and a couple horses still are...
