NOW I GET IT

My son, NOL-NOC Estate's poorly paid foreman:)

Last Sunday my son came in the house after working all weekend with the tractor, using brush hog and box blade and the running the backhoe.  He sat down smiling and said to me, "Now I get it".  He knew the reason Ron could go out in the morning and stay out all day on the tractors. You would never know he was raised a city boy.  Ron taught him well.

Here he is last year doing a little dead tree removal.

I miss being on an acreage. I could till my garden spot or mow or even plow for hours. I totally get it.

I have never done any of that kind of hard work in my entire life. Hats off to the male species! Lol.

Not just boys toys. I love to get on the tractor and mow plus love to mow with riding mower too.

Yep, I totally get it too. Not just peace for the guys. It is my time to reflect also.

My son helps some of the neighbors close by but isn't ready yet to take on any big jobs for others. He needs to build his confidence a little more I guess.

Hey Gigi, I drive that stuff too. Tractor's aren't just for boys anymore. However I have to admit I can't do all the stuff that my son can and that Ron could.

  7. The nice part of living in the country is if someone doesn't like what you did you can tell them not to look over this way.

  8. I have never driven a tractor, just used a lawn mower, later we had one with the bag on the side. That never gave me the satisfaction of smelling the freshly cut grass so I would just take the bag out. My husband always wondered why he paid the extra seventy five dollars for the bag. LOL

  9. I get it, and it's for gals too. Swathing hay can be hot & dirty, but smells so good, and can be time to reflect. I always mowed the lawn, the Cowman was fine with that.lol

If you remember last summer when I mowed they accused me of being drunk!

I don't like to use the catcher either. Mainly because it is too much trouble.

Ron didn't like me mowing a lot because he wanted to do it all himself and just knew I would turn the mower over and cut off my feet. But he did finally concede that I was doing a pretty good job. However if he had seen me last year on my own he would surely have rolled his eyes. lol I know he is proud of our fine adult boy doing the work though.

  11. My sister in Florida and her husband have planted the "dove" fields and it was so funny to see all the boys taking turns last summer on the tractor. :) It must be fun.

  12. Never had the occasion but think it must be fun and the evidence of what you accomplish is so apparent. I get a little of that kick when I mow.

  13. Working outside is frequently magical - when it isn't hot or cold and windy hell. I am so glad he is revelling in the good days.

  14. Working outdoors has healing qualities . I love riding tractors and mowers..
I'll miss that a little living where the yard work is all done by others. I can still plant some flowers and veggies though.

    love you bunches.
