LOVE THE PICTURE HATE THE PICTURE

Siblings gather for early birthday celebration of the hat-less fellow.
We met at our traditional gathering place for the traditional pig out of all-you-can-eat Alaskan King Crab legs and had our traditional fun and laughter.  We were having an early celebration of my brother's birthday.  This was Ron's favorite place to go and I am pretending that he is absent from the table because he is taking the picture. Otherwise his presence was definitely felt.  We always have such a good time and we feel especially grateful that the management has never had to ban us from the restaurant....yet:)

  1. It is so easy to forget that a loss of a loved ones is forever when the rest of us just move on. You look good Granny Annie.

  2. Happy birthday to the hatless one! I love that you had such a good time and that you felt Ron's presence. I imagined him behind the camera, as you said - lovely.

  3. All you can eat Alaskan king crab? My family would put that place out of business in a day!

Mike and I always did king crab legs for Christmas eve. I couldn't bring myself to do it this past year, but I felt his disappointment. I do feel his spiritual presence so often.

  4. I love the expression of your husband's absence... he's taking the picture. He's there in spirit.

  6. That was a happy group of celebrants! To feel the presence of a loved one now gone is very special - I bet Ron was smiling, too!

  7. Such a bittersweet memory. And I love the idea that Ron was taking the photo. And was in your heart even if invisible.

  8. Aww, I think he was jealous that he missed such good food. You all look so happy and close. Smiles are always the true picture.

  16. Oh how hard that must have been, at the same time what joy to be with family, celebrating in a place that Ron loved. He would want you to be happy and so I hope you can be.

It's always nice to get together with family regardless of the reason.

  21. Annie, I'm jealous the crab legs (my fav!!), but so glad you had a good time. Yes, there are times that bring the absence very close and very sharp. But I have no doubts whatsoever that he was there in spirit, egging your hi-jinx on. :)

    And, yes, I'm baaaaack! :)

  22. Excuses to celebrate are wonderful! I remember previous pics of the Crab-leg feasting. Tough to be without a usual group member, but I do bet his spirit is always there, n he really wanted that free crab!

    I can't eat shell-fish due to allergy.

The world does move on as it should. Thanks for the compliment. I feel good too.

Usually when we would gather there, I always took the picture so it was easy to imagine that this time Ron got up to take the picture. He was always a better photographer anyway. Lol

This place only offers this feast on Tuesday nights and you can just imagine the crowd that packs in. We usually starve all day and arrive early to beat the crowd. We all feel Ron is with us and as much as I miss him, my siblings miss him too. I know that you know:)

    cube
Yes, he is. At first I did not know if I could go there without him, but as it turned out, I didn't.

    Chatty Crone
I keep thinking things will smooth out, but it is now my belief that there are going to be rough patches for the rest of my life.

    Barb
I certainly like to believe that he was.

    Elephant's Child
One of the best parts is that I have been having the most lovely dreams about him since that night.

    Tabor
Those smiles do tell a story don't they. We can be a rowdy bunch for sure.

    Birdie
We will never go there that we won't and that is for sure.

    Sonny
Thanks Sonny, love does live. Hope it lives for you too. You are sure quiet these days.

    LL Cool Joe
    Thanks for the compliment Joe.

    Arkansas Patti
You are right about that because Ron brought the laughter in every gathering.

    Jeanie
    They all missed him too.

    Brite Mist
It is definitely a miracle that they have not. For some reason my brother let out some kind of loud hoot in the middle of the evening that set the whole place into laughter. Don't have a clue what that was about.

    Hugs back at cha.

    Kerry
I promised Ron that I would be okay and I work at keeping that promise every day but it's not an easy one to keep.

    Riot Kitty
I have to laugh at the thought of Ron “hovering”. First you have to picture John Wayne and then imagine him “hovering”. Instead think of Ron standing guard with a couple of six guns on his hips ready to take out anyone who might upset me.

    heartinhand
It was a good picture and we were pleased to finally have one turn out. Usually we are too busy eating to even take one.

    gigihawaii
You sure know that and do it so well. However you can tell that our crazy bunch would not do high tea very well.

    Pat
Don't know how well, but it was done. One of these days I will be able to stop bringing my feelings up to the entire world.

    Talon
Hello, hello, hello my dear friend. You have been missed but I have been communicating with you via the beautiful moon beams. Yes, that's my guy, egging on the hi-jinx. Lol

    Snaggle Tooth
If I ever develop an allergy to shell fish I don't know what I would do. My mother had one and I felt so sorry for her.

    Brighid.
The picture clearly shows the fun time. Hugs to you too.
