WHATCA GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU?

Question Of The Week 10/7/13

Have you ever broken the law without getting caught?  What law are you tempted to break most often?

(Speeding, failure to yield, no seat belt, jaywalking, shoplifting, bank robbery, murder etc.)

  1. I do speed most of the time, and have only got a ticket and fine once.

I've been very tempted to beat a certain person to a pulp for beating up and abusing a woman, but then that wouldn't make me any better than him. So I stole the most precious possession he owned instead.

  2. I'll plead the 5th on this one!

  3. Speeding of course. I don't do it intentionally and always slow back to about 4 over the limit but the two vehicles I have now seem to ride so well with big motors that I often find myself going 80 in a 60 before I rein everythiing in.

  4. I used to speed just a little over the limit...but do that less and less these days as I am a more careful driver. I am actually a coward and follow most laws. I also have great respect for 95% of police officers as they have a tough job.

  5. My city has a law against texting or using a cell phone while driving. Sometimes when I am sitting at a red street light I am so tempted to just send a short text, and sometimes I do.

  6. I ALWAYS get caught so I try to be law abiding at all times. I know that people get aggravated with my slow driving. There's a hand gesture for conveying that message, But if I am going 40 in a 35 zone, I WILL get a ticket. i assume it is some kind of Karmic payback for things I got away with in a previous life.

  8. LL Cool Joe -- I do speed often but have never even had a ticket (knock on wood). And oh yes, I have also been tempted to do bodily harm to some individuals who are horrible.

Seriously Though -- Funny! Great answer.

Cliff -- I love my little Chevy Colorado and I call it my zippy truck. For some reason it likes to go fast so it's really not my fault.

Tabor -- I too respect the police and can't imagine what I would do if they pulled me over. I watch COPS on a regular basis and just know I would be the person who gets arrested just for appearing guilty.

Aunt Betsy -- Oh boy that cell phone thing causes us quite a conundrum. I swear I won't answer when driving and should definitely silence the phone, but I am pulled to the ringing like a kid to candy. Texting is not something I ever do in a "moving" vehicle. See you at the red light:)

Olga -- Wow, when you get in touch with that previous life be sure and tell the story. It would have to be a good one. By the way, when I was a kid I asked a family friend what that hand gesture meant and she said "Have a cigar". You can imagine the trouble that got me in.

  9. I was born to be a rule follower. I rarely go more than 10 km over the limit. I use crosswalks. Murder! (insert dramatic music here) I am in the throes of peri-menopause. All I need is a jury of women over 50.

  10. Chatty Crone -- Once in a while...smile, smile, wink, wink.

Birdie -- "A jury of women over 50"!!! I hear you girl. ROFLOL We would definitely acquit.

  11. I don't feel like I am a total rule follower, but I can't think of anything I do that is illegal, unless having the dog off-leash in town counts.

  12. I confess I do speed, but usually when everyone is. I learned the hard way (expensive ticket) that you don't want to stand out from the crowd and of course, you want to stay safe.

  13. Jeanie -- Well I guess that depends on your town laws. I know that in Stark, KS it is against the law to quack like a duck on Main Street:)

  14. Lynn -- School zones and constructions zones ALWAYS hold me at the limit regardless of the flow of traffic. Otherwise I often set my own pace.

  15. Since I don't drive I'm unable to speed, however I do occasionally jaywalk. But only when it's 100% safe!

I have driven my car on the wrong side of the road several times.

  17. I can't think of any law I've purposely broken, but I know I have been guilty of speeding. Not an insane amount, but on those quiet country roads where no one is watching. :)

  18. Traffic stuff. Thank goodness it was never serious. I filed the events under 'Lessons Learned' and moved on with a smarter head.

  19. yesterdays post reminds me that you'll never be able to run for President. You'd have to hard of a time talking out of both sides of your mouth.

  20. Sparkling Red -- If you watched enough television you would know that high speed chases can suddenly come out of nowhere and get you crossing the street but I guess that wouldn't matter if you were jaywalking or crossing honestly.

gigihawaii -- Now I am very concerned about you. However I did find myself going the wrong way on a one-way street the other day. We both need keepers.

Talon -- I have never driven an insane amount but I was on the back of a motorcycle once that was going over 100 mph. Scared me to death and there is no jumping off.

    cube -- Yikes!

Cliff -- You've got that right!

  21. Mostly going through stop signs and traffic lights, especially those in the city that are red early in the morning on the weekends.

Have creatively acquired things once or twice.

  22. Jaywalking all the time hehehehe...

  23. Jaywalking! Yup! I admit it.

  24. I had to drive on the curb today as there was a mini Tornado and there were down wires and down trees occupying three lanes and in the rush hour traffic there was no way I could turn back. Every one was riding on the curb so I did too. LOL

  25. I love how you casually end with (murder, etc.) I have to say if there is no traffic coming, I jaywalk all the time. I also used to love to speed (not recklessly, but on the freeway when there aren't many cars) but got tickets so I don't speed so much now. Boo.

  26. I guess I'd have to say speeding and jaywalking

  27. In town I'll follow the rules and reg. - however show me an open 'empty' road and my foot sort of gets stuck on the floor!
Never been caught yet but having said that, with the amount of interstate driving we do and the sneaky way they have of putting unmarked cars on the road, it going to happen one day!
