DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING

You have met Rooster King Kong.  He is a pretty boy and makes us very proud.  I was a tad bit disappointed because he didn't resemble his father, Jack Bauer, at all.  Well, other than his size.
Suddenly I viewed the growing youngest set of chicks and behold, this little guy is the spitting image of Rooster Jack Bauer.  If J.B. Jr. grows as large as his dad and his brother King Kong we might have some trouble a'brewin'.

  1. They are both extremely handsome fellas.
I do understand about the possible disagreements though.

  4. These are great pics and anything coming from Jack Bauer is bound to be big.

  5. Sonny -- Actually we no have four roosters and something will have to give. Rooster Chicklet is the oldest and primary ruler. Bonnie is next, but he is a lover not a fighter. King Kong seems very friendly so far and since I just discovered JB Jr. is a rooster, there is no telling what he will be like.

Jeanie --They are handsome and certainly appeal to the ladies.

Marla and Steve -- Rooster Chicklet is currently the roost ruler. I'm not sure he will be able to hold his own against these young whipper snappers.

Ilena -- I actually visited Jack Bauer yesterday. The neighbors had all their chickens out and it was great to see him in the seat of honor again. Hard to believe that he was ever an outcast. He has a huge harem over there.

  9. I learned that one must never bend over to harvest eggs in a farm containing a rooster. That is all.

  10. I never knew that their traits were passed down so distinctly that you could tell. But then, I know nothing about roosters or chickens in general. Nice to learn from you.

  11. Gosh! You could write a book about the life, loves and tribulations of chickens and roosters. :-)

  13. Changes in the wind -- I will have to post a more recent picture of King Kong. He is indeed a beauty and very big. Since he is still very young it will be interesting to see how much bigger he will get.

Sparkling Red -- We have had some pretty serious fights among our roosters and it is never a pretty sight. That is when we have to start searching for adoptive homes. That is exactly the reason poor Jack Bauer had to cross the road.

Rachel -- Right now all is well on the home front However neither JB Jr. or King Kong are mature enough for the older roosters to feel threatened.

Murr Brewster -- We have had one very mean rooster named Boss Hog. He was a terror to people, especially the grandchildren, and as much as I loved him, he had to go. We released him in a Rooster Barn in Kansas where he could live the rest of his life away from people. I would never turn my back on him. Thanks for commenting.

kenju -- I wish I knew which of our neighbors hens laid the King Kong egg. I'm pretty sure she was a Rhode Island Red. Of course Mr. Gibson was the hen that hatched the eggs so she became the surrogate mother to both King Kong and JB, Jr. I would teach more if I knew more.

  14. Kay -- Someday I will write and illustrate a little children's book about my chickens.

Riot Kitty -- Hope the upcoming saga will be a happy one!

  17. Lynn -- They are handsome and that will only serve to get them in trouble:)

Jutta -- Thanks for the comment. JB Jr. is really going to look good when he grows a little more and has his swooping tail feathers.

  19. Sorry I missed your post while being under the weather lately-

I'm Glad you finally got one that looks like Jack! Is JB jr part of the Renegade flock? Both he n King Kong are beautiful. I hope they don't fight too much n just decide to have separate groups-
