VISITORS

Posed in front of the family mural.
My sister visited with two of her grandchildren.  This is a photo of them posing in front of the family mural I made a few years ago.  I had sent small art cards to each person and asked then to return them to me for this project.  It was fun for these children to see their work from years back posted with the rest of the family including their parent's and grandparent's art work.

They did a lot on their brief visit to our home.  They got to bottle feed the baby goat, feed apple slices to the big goats, help gather eggs in the hen house and go for a ride in the bucket of Ron's tractor.  Their grandmother took that ride with them.

We received the following note from the children after they had returned to their Chicago home.
Is there a better reward than receiving such a nice note?

  1. What a great little note from the kids. I know that they had a blast at your place. Who wouldn't? And I love the family mural. I think that might be something I would want to do, so I may be stealing that idea. The sandhill babies are cute, aren't they. We don't see them very often so that was definitely a treat and one reason I always try to have my camera with me.

  2. That's a great note. A keeper! I love to see things like that.

When my nephew went to camp for the first time when he was 8, his parents got a postcard that said, "Golf, bows and arrows." I don't think there was a comma. :) Someone probably said to just tell parents what you are doing. :)

  3. Bonnie -- It was especially a treat for these city kids. I too always have my camera with me...except when I need it. LOL

Lynn -- Your nephew's note would have become a standard response in our family for the question, "What are you doing?". From then on it would be "golf bows and arrows".

  4. That's an adorable (and very detailed) note. I love it! The mural project sounds perfect. Maybe I'll do that with my kids' artwork. I must dig for some in the old scrapbooks.

  10. That note is a keeper. So very sweet.

This city girl would send you a real nice note if she got to do all those cool things at your place, too.

    Just sayin'... ;-)

  13. Cute kids and very thoughtful too. But that's why we didn't stop in, I hate gathering eggs.
Also, if you give your wife a ride in the loader bucket and then accidentally hit the wrong lever and it goes up and you can't remember exactly how to get it down until you drive around for a while...she'll get a bit testy. Uncalled for anger I'd say.
