LET'S MONKEY AROUND
Have you ever seen such large sock monkeys? Found a room full of these engaging critters in a flea market yesterday. They cost $56 each. I could not afford to purchase them but somehow felt the urge to help them escape.
I recall having one of those for a best friend when I was a very young lad. When ever I see one and tell my grown children how I loved and cared for my little buddy they just stare at me and you can see the thoughts of "hmmm, I wonder which rest home would take someone that big" going thru their minds. I also used to get mad at him if Mom made me take a nap and then I'd have to punch I'm. Don't worry, he could really take a punch.
I love sock monkeys although, like you, have never seen them THAT big. When I was little, the hospital always gave them to the patients on the children's ward. Last year Walmart carried sock reindeer. Should have bought one, but I didn't. I hope they have them again this year.
I have never seen such large sock monkeys either, but I'm not against their existence. Can't a large sock monkey haunt a flea market without ever being bought because it is overpriced? ;-)
Those who guessed that they may run around the store after closing are only telling half the story.
There is only ONE sock monkey and he is at the top in a boy's checked suit.In the picture below it is still him but that picture was taken after hours when he likes to dress as a girl..
He is the World's first and most famous transvestite Sock Monkey.
LL Cool Joe – You mean everyone hasn’t heard of sock monkeys? Well at least Lamb Chop is universal.
Snaggle Tooth -- You are early today. Usually you are my last commenter. Everyone is probably allergic to stuffed animals if we really knew it.
Rae – Yes the princess monkey was my favorite.
Cliff – It is very interesting to know you had a sock monkey as a child and it is even more interesting to know you would admit it. Wonder if my son ever confesses that he had a raggedy Andy doll?
Changes in the wind – It was hard to leave them all there. Somehow I could picture them joining hands and following me out of the store.
Bonnie – Sock Reindeer? I would have found those difficult to pass up as well. Maybe they will have them again.
Cube – I was wondering if many people can fork over $56 for one. You can buy huge stuffed teddy bears for around $20. However these are homemade and quite unusual.
Nancy – Should have known you would figure it all out. I’m pretty sure he is being scheduled for psychiatric flea market counseling
Riot Kitty – Maybe those sock monkeys were imported from Texas.
Nezzy – How sad. Did anyone get a sock monkey and a scooter instead of you or was it because there weren’t any? You have a delightful week as well.
A friend made me a sock monkey for my grandchildren's play room because she knew I love them and have never had one. Yesterday I saw some cute Santa sock monkeys at Cracker Barrel for $20, but they were regular-sized. But then I'm not sure I want a giant sock monkey!
Susan Adcox -- I think I shall research the origin of sock monkeys. They are a little creepy when you stop and think about it and those great big ones are extra creepy.
Ron aka TOG -- Nice little rhyme. I'm curious about how many of those giant monkeys they sell for $56 each.

Those are huge! Nope, we don't have supersized sock monkeys in my state.
Nope, I've never seen such monster sock monkeys!!! I had a sock monkey at my Granny Walden's I played with as a little chicklett.
When she passed all I asked for was the sock monkey and a scooter. I go neither. Booger!!!

My wife, Char, makes those. Bet I could you one for far less than $56. Maybe not large thought.
