ANOTHER DREAM

I often dream that Ron and I have a child together. Last night we had a wee tiny little girl and we named her Hiawatha Joy. We wrote to a friend of Ron's to ask him to do a sculpture of our new baby girl and copied the letter to my daughter Chelle. She came to a family event and gave a power point presentation on why she should do the sculpture instead of Ron's friend. While we were at the family gathering to introduce our new child, we were entertained by singing from this tiny new daughter. She could belt out a song about things she had seen and it was amazing to hear this coming out of the mouth of a tiny infant wrapped in a blanket. At some point I dropped our small baby and Slim grabbed her up. I managed to retrieve Hiawatha from the dog's mouth but she had been stretched like a Gumby toy. Meanwhile we felt badly about daughter Terri in San Diego not getting to see the new sister so we called her to see if they wanted to pick a better middle name for Hiawatha than Joy. Maybe tonight I will learn the new middle name.

Now from the dream to a real nightmare. Our air conditioning is totally out and it reached 98 degrees in the kitchen, living room, guest room area. We are living in den and master bedroom area under two window air conditioners until a repair man comes today (hopefully). Thank goodness son Tandy is here to save us. He doesn't have parts and tools to repair the AC but does have the knowledge to diagnose the problem and could tell the repair guy. We know Tandy feels a bit cramped having to sleep on the den couch. If the repair guy doesn't come today, Tandy will install another window air unit in the upper level to get us through before he has to go back home.

As we count our blessings I cannot help but wonder what in the world people are doing who don't have a good cooling system or the financial resources for alternatives other than suffering in the heat.

Devotional this Sunday reminds me: When I open my eyes to the amazing power of God, I have no fear.

  3. I've had some very strange dreams lately, but yours tops it. You poor things, hope your a/c works soon!

  4. Ha, we don't have air conditioning in our house here. Really we rarely need it. We may possibly get one or two days a year that would justify having it.

But our home in AZ is another story!

  5. Thanks for stopping by my place and leaving a lovely comment. It has been hard to think of writing anything, because my attitude had been corrupted by constant political misgivings. Then, too, I have been afraid to write about the things I know (my family) for fear of saying something that would pull their chains. I think I will try to find things that do not involve politics or close personal relations, because I have loved blogging.

  6. I sure hope your A/C is repaired soon. I don't know how folks without it survive either. We never had it when I was a kid, and we had the windows open and the door open with just the screen door closed. Finally we'd go to sleep once it cooled off a bit! Now we are spoiled with the A/C and I can't imagine being without it!

  7. Wow, I'd die if it got that hot in our house.
Our's went our about a month back but the repairman was out by shortly after noon the first day.
But all in all, I'd say this was a pretty off the wall post considering the baby and all.
Oh yeah, What does "that explains a lot" mean??

  8. Hi Annie ~~ What a strange dream and how awful the air-conditioner is not working. I hope the repairman comes very soon to fix it. We are having the opposite problem with very cold weather.
We don't have ticks around here -they do in some areas
but we got used to Ticky. I am glad you enjoyed the good living advice, my friend. Take care, Love, Merle.

  9. What a crazy dream. I'm wondering what you ate before you went to bed, lol. If I eat anything with pineapple before I go to bed I am guaranteed a strange dream. I feel for you about the a/c. When we had back to back hurricanes in 2004 we didn't have electric for 3 or 4 days (many people alot longer than that). We had 3 dogs then and they were who I was worried about. Thank God we could stay at my husband's office with the City and they let me take the dogs. It was air conditioned, had a fridge, microwave and shower. So I was able to keep my dogs cool and comfortable. I hope yours gets fixed soon. Sorry about rambling on.

  10. I heart air conditioning. I don't know what life would be like without it, but I do know there are many who don't have it.

  11. Wow, a tiny baby that sings n performs! Strange she got Gumby-ed! I bet Slim ruins her stuffed toys too. I read that B vitamens n folic Acid give you vivid dreams.

Sorry to hear the central AC is down! I hope it's fixed already, n your health didn't suffer too badly.
In winter I close down rooms for heat so know that claustrophobic feeling!
I won't cook in the heat. A 90 F plus heat-wave here just ended TG. I hate closed windows... Have no ac here, just fans, n live upstairs. Plus the hose pipes are broken- no hose water. Alot of quick showers to cool off, cold drinks, n walks in the beach water at every chance takr place.

Best of luck surviving that heat!

  12. That certainly is a strange dream and in such detail too.

Air conditioning? We should be so lucky as to need it. There have been a few days & nights I have been tempted to put the heating on. When I think of the cost, the temptation goes away!

  13. It must've been really tough to deal with the heat and a busted AC unit at the same time. It was a good thing that Tandy was there to assist you guys. At the very least, you knew what the problem was, even before the repair guy showed up. Hopefully the problem was fixed soon after. Anyway, thanks for sharing your AC experience, as well as that very vivid dream. Good day!
