SYMBOLS OF OUR FAITH

It is Holy Week and I should be wearing my favorite cross necklace (one of the crosses Jamie Dawn made). We are out in public all week for medical treatments.and live in the Bible Belt so I am reluctant to wear it. Why? Because wearing noticeable symbols these days brings the kooks out of the woodwork. The most outspoken are other Christians (?) who want to talk to you and determine if your level of Christianity meets their high standard of excellence. (You know, those people who tell you that you won't be with them in heaven and you are glad because you don't want to spend eternity with them anyway.)

But it is Holy Week and I started this week out by accidentally driving a nail through my foot. A perfect reminder that our faith carries us through all suffering.

Today I will wear my cross.

  1. I'm wearing my cross this week in honor of Holy week, too. You are right about the judgment factor - I run into that all the time. Someone I work with does that.

  2. I wear my bling cross nearly every day. The other day I was wearing a Jesus pendant and my younger daughter asked me why I was wearing a pendant with Bob Marley on it. :D

The only person who has a right to judge us is God, other people's opinions just don't matter.

  3. I admire religious people who do not feel a need to test me or convert me. It seems that the challenge of keeping oneself on the right track should be enough to keep one holy.

  4. Oh ouch...loved the cross.

  5. I agree with Joey and Tabor. The Christians who try me are the ones who profess to be so good at following the Bible and then you find out that they are guilty of some horrendous sin.

  8. Good for you. I've noticed that the loudest "Christians" are the ones I wouldn't want to spend any time at all with, either here or in the next world.

Hey! My word verification is "savin"!

  9. Happy Easter Week-end!

I get to work with folks like that who think they're holy but get caught lying n stealing customers food from orders during work-

N I can't even bring up Harry Potter movies because they flip out! It's only fiction...
