A CHANGE OF SCENERY

Above is my view from my laptop. Usually I work at the kitchen table facing the refrigerator. The view from the previous year changes after Christmas when the refrigerator pictures are taken down and new ones are put up as all these neat picture greetings begin to arrive. I love all these new photos and looking at the beautiful grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews and seeing how much they have grown. It is going to be interesting to see how what highlights will be added before the end of 2011. But when I first look up at the new pictures there is still a little shock when the first photos I focus on are no longer George Clooney and my daughter and God-daughter on the red carpet at the 2010 Oscars.

  1. I did the same (almost). The tree is down and the x-mas cards are away as well as the nativity set-up. Now my table belongs to me again and I started a new painting (no not yet finished).

You are going strong with the portrait party. Way to go girl!

  2. Holland -- I know you have been busy but it is so good to see you surface again. I am still enjoying the portrait party.

  3. My new stainless steel fridge will not hold magnets (which dismays me!) I have to put my grandchildren's photos on the sides, and there is precious little space to do that, since it is recessed between cabinets. Yours looks nice!

  4. kenju -- Mine is not stainless. It is painted to look like stainless. My sister-in-law has one like yours and I was horrified to learn she couldn't put magnets on it, so I went for painted:)

  7. We have nothing on our fridge, well apart from grubby finger marks, I'm a bit of a de-cluttering freak, but we do have photos of our children in frames in the dining room. Which reminds me, they need updating!

I love how carefully yours are all placed!

  8. I have photos on my fridge, too. I believe I might have kept George up there forever. :)

  10. Changes – It is a wonderful way to hold them in my heart and my thoughts.

Talon – Good description –ever changing gallery.

LL Cool Joe -- The pictures are placed carefully now but by the end of the year it will be an entirely different arrangement. (You need to get a grip and display some pride of kids on your fridge)

Lynn – It wasn’t about “George” it was about my daughter and my god-daughter.

Chatty Crone – Oh dear another “George” fan. I don’t even like him. It was about my girls on the red carpet:) LOL

  11. George Clooney, huh? That's an amazing and colorful photo. I would've left it up there forever. What a thrill...kinda like me walking the red carpet with Cap'n Jack Sparrow! Oh my... ;)

  12. I love putting up pics and drawings from the little sibs (who are getting not so little!) There is probably not one square inch of space on our fridge.

  13. I don't get around to declutter the old pics too often. I hate packing them away cause they'll be hard to take out again. I love all the Xmas pic cards tho- what an evolution they show!
So were your girls there on the red carpet as a date, from a movie role, or interviewing some one?

  14. Lulu -- I only mention George to show that they actually were in such close contact to the stars. The list of celebrities they mingled with was awesome.

Riot Kitty -- Not a free square inch on the fridge, that is exactly the way God intended:)

Snaggle Tooth -- My girls were on the red carpet because my god-daughter works for the Academy and gets a ticket for herself every year and one for a date. Usually she takes her guy but believe it or not,he has grown weary of the party and she is now able to share that other ticket with family and friends. The Academy employees enter via the red carpet with all the celebrities. Thanks for asking:)

Try grouping your past refrigerator pictures by year when you remove them and when you go through them periodically it is discovering treasure.

  19. I started the same thing last year - taking the old down and starting over. It is fun and fresh.

I love your faux stainless fridge!

  20. Cliff -- You are so right. 2010 was gone in a blink.

Brown English Muffin -- You are so sweet to tag me and I will do my best to post the eight things. I know how watching kids grow warms your heart as it does mine. We have that in common for sure.

Ralph -- My fridge will be the same with pictures covering every inch by the end of this year.

Nora -- This has definitely become a tradition for us and it is fun and fresh.

  21. George seem like a nice man and your family blend in well with the stars.
On my computer, at rest, I have an endless stream of all photos on it which sometimes mesmerises me. I didn't put it there and have no control over it. Its magic:)

  22. Out with the old and in with the new. I'm sure you keep all the old pics to dig out and reminisce once in awhile.
What a blast! Love the pic with George Clooney! Clooney is supposedly the star, but it is Chelle who had the star above her head.

  23. Pat -- My sister has one of those magic photo streams on her computer. I'm afraid no amount of magic could allow my computer to handle the slide show.

jddaws -- Oh yes I keep the old pictures and label them refrigerator and the year. Yes Chelle and Jessi were the real stars.
