PROCEED WITH CAUTION

This week we visited a new flea market in our area. I tend to charge into a room without any concern for my surroundings. Ron, on the other hand, never goes anywhere new without scoping the place out before charging forward. "I'm not going in there!" he boomed, "Not with that anvil resting on that cracked board!" I had not even seen it and was already almost right underneath it. Can you guys see it above the Tool Man booth? Anyway, it's a fake. The anvil is made of light wood, painted and tied to an already cracked board. I was amazed by the number of people who walked in and walked all around and never even saw the anvil. Sometimes it might pay to look up.

Last weekend was great. The boys worked with grandpa while my son rested for his birthday weekend. Our granddaughter Beth pretended to work as the goat herder but she is lacking in he cousin Hope's herding skill. Beth is a typical 14 year old with her head in the clouds.

In case you are curious about my sleep study, I am too. They haven't scheduled it yet so I'm still avoiding driving. It will be nice to get it over with.

Here we go again into another weekend. Hope everyone has a spectacular one!

  1. I rarely scope a place out and I probably should take a note from your husband. Keep healthy.

  2. I'm afraid I am with you - I just would go in and with all that stuff I wouldn't know where to go first.

Good luck with the results of your sleep study.

  3. I'd have been right there with you standing under it. Glad it turned out OK. :)

    Your grandchildren sound so great.

  5. I tend to look around at my surroundings too, but not if I'm with someone and talking.

  6. How does one acquire herding skills? :)

  7. I can only imagine how fun it would be to have a light-weight anvil around and take bets on unsuspecting people about being able to lift it - lol!

Hope you and yours have a spooktacularly Happy Halloween, Annie!

  10. I was more shocked by the "Toolman" sign. Isn't that a bit unpc nowadays??

  11. Hi, I came over from Terry's LadyLibertyPatriot to say hi. The anvil resting on a cracked board story is funny!

  12. Hi Annie,

Well, I never would have noticed the anvil but my husband, Roy, would have.

He and Ron sound exactly alike. Always aware of their surroundings and what is happening;always on the lookout for anything that could hurt their family.

Aren't we lucky to have them?

  13. I'm not aware of your sleep study. We've both been thru it and it's the best thing I've done. Both of us use cpap machines. I wanted one because I kept waking myself up gasping for air. The study showed I was waking up about 6 times per minute. Now I'm out for 6 to 6.5 hours without fail. Relly nice. My wife fought the process but is now very happy to have a machine and wouldn't try to sleep without it.

  14. Ron sounds sensible. I must not say - 'unusual for a guy;)'
How romantic it sounds to have a granddaughter as a goat herder. Makes me think of Tosca.
Good luck with the sleep study. I know what it's like waiting to get on with things.

  15. Never had a sleep study. I think it'd be hard to sleep if someone is watching you, but maybe they do it differently now? Anyway, hope it helps!

I like the fake anvil! I probably would not have noticed it until I was right under it either! But since it's a tool booth I would have bypassed it anyway.

  16. Ron has a good eye! I was drawn not to the anvil but the sign. I'd have been mushed!

  18. That anvil does appear rather dangerous! Good thing it's a fake!
I'm short, so sometimes i don't see over my head well either. I haven't been to a flea amrket in ages... Used to sell stuff at them!

  19. Crumbs that looks dangerous. Don't they have to comply with health & safety regs?

I don't go into shops that have stuff stacked high up no matter how safe it looks. Gives me claustrophobia.
