SO IT BEGINS

Today I had my blood work done for my cholesterol. The lab said I first had to pay $11.35. I assured them that my insurance paid 100% on lab work but when there was a fee it was $12.00 co-pay. It did not matter to them. They are now collecting 10% of the total lab fee up front on everyone regardless of insurance because of the Health Care Bill passing the House. My insurance carrier is going to be out added expense refunding the fees that are not part of my insurance plan.

President Obama looked our active and retired military and veteran's in the eye and said our benefits would not be affected one bit. So it begins.............(Nope, not really. It began last January. "It" being the freaking lies!"

What, you ask, is the big deal about $11.35? It is not yet the 15Th of the month. Think of the person who will be charged $11.35 and that might be the last money they have to make it until payday. I remember having times that I would have had to forgo the lab work until after payday with gasoline and food taking precedence.

  1. I may be wrong, but it sounds like the lab is scamming people. The final health care bill hasn't even been written yet so they are pulling a fast one to get more money before they might have to make less. This is not Obama's fault, but of a corporation like the banks that are increasing their interest rates before legislation can be passed.

  2. Methinks this is a huge ripoff. I went for blood work this morning at my new doctor and they didn't ask me for a nickel and all I have is Medicare.

  3. I also think something is fishy here. Maybe they are thinking that there will be added expenses and padding ahead of time. I have visited doctors, dentists and an optomitrist this month and my only issue was not being able to get the H1N1.

  4. I think Darlene, Kay and Tabor are right, Annie. It isn't supposed to happen that way.

  5. I agree. They cannot collect because of legislation that is still pending and not yet law. Sounds like a scam to me.

  6. When my ex-boyfriend had heart surgery 5 years ago, the ONLY thing he got charged for (insurance paid the other 30 grand) was his pre-op blood work. He got charged for it again recently when he went in for a checkup.

  7. Sounds like its a scam to me too, they just cant MAKE up prices, nothing is set in stone yet!!!!!

well i would rather pay that than the $300 a month I can barely afford in LOW COST government health coverage I have, since I dont have any coverage in my job and that leaves no money for much of anything

Im just too scared to go without it so I go without everthing else, my only savior is my cheap finds at the sales :) its all I have :)(besides my family :) )

  10. It's getting bad all over. Our insurance barely covers anything. I've had to hold off on my daughter's next orthodontist visit for lack of $$$ and now they want a $1,000 deposit for the cosmetic part of the treatment.

    Christmas should be fun.

  11. Oh Granny, CCB and I both went and had blood work done the other day. They made us give a credit card for each. Saying the max they'd charge would be 100 DOLLARS! THey'd submit the charges and only charge what the insurance didn't pay. In the event the hundred dollars isn't enough we'll be billed. I was FLOORED.
