DID WE REALLY PUT A MAN ON THE MOON?

This is my absolute favorite chili. I use it to make a Frito chili pie once in a while. Ron does not like Frito chili pies, so I buy these little microwave singles. There is a problem opening these (and that goes for any of the other brands of soup, etc. that use this individual serving container) When you pull the ring top it pops off and flings the sauce everywhere. I try to remember to place a towel over it or place my hand over it to keep sauce off the walls. Today I used my hand and held too close to the rim. I cut my finger tip and instead of sauce everywhere, there is blood everywhere.
Some coffee creamer containers aren't dangerous, but they also are unintentional spray products. You shake the cream before pouring, then when you push the button to pop the top, you spew cream everywhere.
Do my complaints make sense to you? What products annoy you because of their containers?

  1. Yogurt!!! The kids at the preschool often have yogurt in their lunch and it never fails, pull on the top and out pops the yogurt! I have come to despise it.

  2. I like the flavored creamers for my coffee and they all have metal tabby things you have to pull off before the first use. Those things can cut your finger too! Or maybe I'm just a dork. HATE THEM!

I also don't like when they tell you a portion is say, one pop tart but they put TWO in a package.

There's more. Oh I know there is. I'm just blank right now!

  3. I have quite a few to mention but as they are British they wouldn'tmake much sense.
I do enjoy your variety of questions you ask, makes one use our little grey cells.

    Yvonne.

  4. Ouch!

Frito pie - ah, you bring back Texas memories :)

I hate things with paper tops that you have to peel back and they won't fucking peel. Like instant soup...and jars that won't come off...and childproof (adult-proof caps)...and just about everything else that requires opening.

  5. Yes, your complaints make sense, Granny.
I'm not fond of the cans with the pop-top edges that curl back, and child-proof caps bug me too because sometimes I can't get them open !

  6. I agree with Riot Kitty that those paper lids that have to be peeled off drive me crazy. Why can't they put a tab on the edge so you have something to grip and pull?

Don't get me started on medicines that I can't open because they have child proof lids. I always forget to ask the pharmacist to omit them and when I need them I have to pry them off with a screwdriver; thus ruining the lids.
Simply press down and turn, you say? Yeah right if your hands are now weak.

  7. I get your frustration. I don't use creamer and I don't eat yogurt, so no problems there for me. I make chili, so none there either.

  8. Michele, you’re right about yogurt. I forgot that.

OGO, the metal tabs have a pull tab but it never pulls and I didn’t think about the possibility it could produce injury.

Yvonne, thanks for liking the questions. Go ahead and share some of your products. We could then enhance our grey cells.

RK, I didn’t know Frito Chili pies were Texan’s food. And yes, those paper tops are a pain in the posterior.

Loving Annie, we all seem to have the same kind of problems.

Darlene, I’m with you on all the child proof problems. They drive me crazy.

Kenju, surely you have some product problem. What about containers in your work? I do make chili too but when only one person wants chili, the single servings are great.

  9. OH! Annie, just looking at that container of Steak and Shake Chili with beans makes me want to run out and buy one.

I don't care if it's hard to open, makes me bleed,or has an unfortunate consequence the next day that forces me to stay in the house alone.

    I WANT THAT CHILI......

  10. I am infinitely cursing the bag of chips. I just want to either tear a little tab to open them or rip a corner. Is that so much to ask? Instead, I'll have to hold both sides and pull, simultaneously dropping every last chip on the floor for the dog to eat because the bag explodes!

  11. Nancy, I should have known you and I both were Steak N Shake Chili kinds of girls

PG, damn the chip bag, the curse of all!

  12. I agree with all of the above...I get dog food splatters, cat food splatters, soup splatter. The one I hate the most is the BLEACH bottles. Never fails when I go to peel the seal, the jug shakes and I get bleach all over me. I have learned to wear an old paint shirt when I'm doing laundry and have to open a new bottle of bleach.

  13. That's a good idea Bonnie for opening the bleach. However when it is time for me to do that, I revert to my previous post on memory and forget that I'm needing to open bleach or forget that it splatters on me until it's too late. LOL

  14. You are trying to make me think, too early in the morning, Annie....I'll have to come back when my brain wakes up.

  15. I'll have to go with the individual serving of fruit (Mandarin oranges) in the plastic container with the plastic lid. Open those little suckers and you have a sticky mess.

  16. Try opening a plastic bottle of MOTT'S apple juice. My God, I almost needed wrist surgery after that!

I hate it when you're supposed to peel a lid off and it doesn't come off until you actually puncture it...and then it explodes...like cream or yogurt. It's annoying as hell!

  17. Add another one for Riot Kitty....maddening to pick and peel and those child proof medicine bottles!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Now Lucy, you should be wide awake by 8:12 AM:)

Ralph, I love mandarine oranges but their juice is sure sticky.

Scarlet, that fact must apply to all apple juice brands. I've stopped even trying to get the bottle open. It is like that plastic lid is welded on. Ron either opens it for me or we wait for the grandkids.

Yep Monica, medicine bottles might just be the worst with those horrible "child proof" caps.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend and memorable Mother's Day celebrations.

  19. The little pull tab on our cooking oil bottles - they break off making it difficult to open.

  20. Milk cartons drive me mad. The plastic tabs always snap. Give me the glass milk bottles anyday.

  21. The creamer bottles! Arg! Those things are awful!
