TATTOO OR NO TATTOO

Last night's Jay Walking episode was Tattoo or No Tattoo. You find out about the person Jay Leno meets on the street to interview and then guess if that person has a tattoo. It seems the majority of the people have tattoo's.

I do not have a tattoo but I do have a design on one of my porcelain crowns. My bil, the dentist, had one of my crowns made with a green dollar sign $ on it when I was promoted to vice president. I love it and, as everyone said, "Now they can identify the body". It is on the bottom toward the back and not one of my front teeth. Every once in a while if I laugh real big someone will say, "You've got spinach on your tooth".

My goddaughter has one beautiful tattoo on the middle of her back (shown above) and I'm pretty sure she has others but I can't remember. My son has a tattoo on his shoulder. My daughter has a small tattoo on the web on he hand between thumb and finger. My spouse has a large peacock on his forearm that covers a once naked lady and he has another tattoo on his leg just above his knee that I won't describe.

What about you -- tattoo or no tattoo? If not, do you want a tattoo?

  1. they have become so common place, tattoos. neither my hubs or i have any. but my 17 year old has one between her rib cage and her hip, a yin yang sign. and my 20 year old has one on her rig cage, shooting stars, and one on her shoulder that says, c'est la vie.

  2. NO to both questions. My mom had very distinct ideas on tattoos and they were not allowable in her world. While I often went out of my way to do something she didn't like, that was not one of them. She successfully transferred her disdain of them to me. Mr. kenje doesn't have one either, which is odd for a Navy man.

  3. I have two of them but they are easily covered...the first time I met my stepmom's mom, she launched into a big discussion about them, and said, "I don't know *why* people get them, do you?" I just smiled and when she found out later, she was quite embarrassed!

  4. I have one I got when I was 30. It's very meaningful and quite beautiful. It's also, like RKs, easily hidden.

Just like other forms of personal expression, tattos are a very personal choice. I'll never get another one, had always wanted one and got exactly what I wanted.

Looks kind of sexy in a tank top, or so I've been told.

  5. I have a tattoo of a Dragonfly on my right forearm. My daughter and son got it for me on my 70th B'day. It is small and I really like it. All of my children have a tattoo.

  6. No tattoo(s) for this Kitty. I have a problem wearing makeup, so anything as permanent as a tattoo isn't for me. I expect one would be useful if I went missing--you know, for identifying the body.
I don't have a prob with other people having them, tho.

  7. I think my first knowledge of tatoos, came from seeing pictures of the serial numbers the Nazi's put on the Jewish prisoners----and so I kinda have to wonder what state of mind people have when they deliberately scar their bodies?? It bothers me not that some do get tattoos, but its not for me.

  8. I don't have a tattoo nor do I want one, each to their own I suppose. To be honest I don't think I could tolerate the actual tattoo being done.

    Take care.

  9. yep, i have another one. i would add on to the one you have pictured, but i don't want to pay for it! bboooo! Gary is right, they are scars, albeit, some are pretty scars. you can get the ink blasted out, but the scar - in that same shape - will always be there...i've never asked your spouse about his tattoos, maybe i will keep my silence ;)

  11. None here and I am so glad that I didn't get one when I was younger. Can you imagine how far south it would have gone after seventy? A small rose on my chest would probably become a long stemmed flower or something dried and wrinkled. Sigh.....

  13. No tattoo's for me. I have found in my lifetime that what seemed wonderful in my twenty's isn't even nice in my sixty's....like smoking for example so I am glad that I don't have a permanent marker for that and I often wonder what that cute little butterfly on someones crack is going to look like on a wrinkled 70 year old butt:)

  14. Sorry, I am not a fan of tattoos, but admit I did envy a lovely small butterfly on the ankle of a very pretty girl. (I also wonder what it will look like when she's old and suffers from swollen wrinkled ankles.)

I think I'll show my art on walls and not on my body.

  15. Your goddaughter's tattoo is bright and beautiful, but that's the thing about tattoos...they don't STAY bright and beautiful. At least not the ones that I've seen over time.

I like henna tattoos because I'm too fickle. I like change and if I got anything permanent, I'd regret it midway through the procedure...not to mention I'm not a big fan of needles.

Btw, are we ever going to see your green dollar sign??

  16. I've always sort of wanted one but could never decide on a design I thought I could live with forever. THEN I couldn't decide on where to put it. I would want to be able to hide if I needed to. (fancy dress or something)

I have after many years decided on a design, though I still don't know where to put it.

  17. I have a two tattoos. I got my first one at age 44 and 2 days later got my second one for my 45th birthday. And I will probably get a couple more eventually. Hubby and I got our first tattoos together. I have a son that is totally covered with tattoos and my other son only has one. It's funny because I thought about doing a blog about our tattoos. They are all in vogue now.

  18. Nope. Don't have any; don't want any.
I did tell my kids that if they ever get one that I will go along and get one too. I will get a period or a comma tattoo.

    :-)

  19. None here thankfully. I never liked them on others either, but to each their own!

Love your dollar bill tooth story! Your BIL must have a good sense of humor!!
