IT IS WELL WITH OUR WORLD

It appears that all is well in feline/fowl world as the earth resumes an upright, on track position. Elenore has given up the kittens in favor of a little clutch of eggs in a next door nest. Miss Hissy is in total control of Goliath and David. Little David is quite the runt and may not survive. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm pretty sure the missing kitten or kittens did not survive and Miss Hissy took them away for a private memorial service.

See this post "What's wrong with this picture?" that began this kitten saga.

Enjoy these follow up posts. DILEMMA; FEATHER COMFORTER; NOW WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM

  1. I'm glad they were able to work things out. Looking back at all the other pictures, I can see 3 kittens, so how unfortunate that one did not survive. Hopefully the other two will grow up to be big and strong like their namesakes. I have been following this saga closely as have all my office mates.

  2. Oh that's great Bonnie. This is kind of the end but we will have to see what happens to David and Goliath going forward. I also hate for Elenore to be hatching eggs right now because we're going on a trip the end of May and if any of the eggs hatch around May 15TH, , the chicks will be tiny when we leave. HELLO TO BONNIE'S OFFICE MATES!

  3. When I have chickens next year I will be calling on you for advice a lot! I think the dog is too big to crawl into any hen house anyway.

I've been sending good thoughts for you guys with the idiot insurance company. I hope it gets resolved soon!

  4. Oh, I am devastated that some of the kittens didn't survive and that David my not make it either. Elinore sure did her best to nurture them.

  5. Kittens come and kittens go, but nobody has quite figured out what makes Chickens tick----or dance for that matter. (lol)

  6. I'm going to read on down for the full story.

  7. It was so cute the kitten and chicks together, but in the end I suppose the kittens had to be separated at some point. I think you're doing a great job.

  8. I feel like I missed something here...so I'll go back and read.

The photo is like nothing I've ever seen before. Great shot!

  9. Wouldn't you love to know the "conversation" that resulted in that compromise?

  10. I still can't get over the harmony here. My cats would be looking at the hens and saying, "Hello, lunch!"

  11. PG, don’t worry about chicken advice. There are a lot of bloggers raising chickens and are willing to help. As far as the insurance thing goes, they were supposed to call us back on Wednesday and we haven’t heard boo. We have since learned that Allstate is not only in the top ten of the nation’s worst insurance companies they are number ONE of the ten.

Darlene, I think little David is going to make it. He was a lot more active and vocal this evening.

Gary, I will certainly post a video when the chickens start dancing. Do you think they will do The Chicken Dance?

Jamie Dawn, did you get all caught up? It’s quite a tale.

Yes Yvonne, nature had to return to balance and now everyone seems happy in their own nests. Elenore is loving the multitude of eggs under her and Miss Hissy is loving having her children to herself.

Scarlet, if you didn’t see anything else, I hope you clicked on “What’s wrong with this picture” because it starts the saga with the amazing picture of finding the kittens in the chicken nest box.

Kenju, I’m laughing at the imagined conversation. Miss Hissy probably said “If you wanna live to raise chicks you better move out sister!”

You know, RK, it is strange that my cats and chickens co-exist so well. We’ve been at this ten years and to my knowledge the cats haven’t harmed a one of our chicks. I had a hen (If anyone remembers Twyla hen) who killed her own chicks and I had a couple of guineas that killed guinea keets. .
