My spouse is frugal. I'm quite sure I have mentioned that before. Yesterday he came home with candy and flowers and he paid full price for both. Usually he waits to get my gift the day after Valentine's so he can buy on sale:) I was delighted with the gifts and he was delighted with the added gift. Yes, he gave me those gloves. It seems he found them on the ground in the parking lot and knew I could clean them up. This seemed to make full price for the candy and flowers easier on him.
For his Valentine's gift from me, we did NOT attend the church supper and I cooked him fried fish and jalepeno cornbread with strawberry shortcake for dessert.
P.S. You must read my cousin Becky's recent Journey Of The Heart.
Hi Annie,
ReplyDeleteYour husband sounds like mine in the gift department. Roy always waits until the last minute to shop. Even for Christmas.
I have always said that he doesn't buy the first thing he sees, he buys the only thing that's left!
Nice gloves. LOL
ReplyDeleteI bet Hubby was happy with his meal,it does sound yummy.
Hugs~~~~Leslie
Ha-ha ! I like the trdae-offs that you two made :)
ReplyDeletePretty flowers and soon-to-be-clean gloves followed by one of my favorites, jalapeno cornbread at home !
Whatta guy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMr. kenju doesn't shop at all, and he would never have the foresight to pick up a pair of gloves like that and bring them home. You done good! Happy belated Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteYou gave each other great gifts. Happy Valentine's Day a day late.
ReplyDeleteOnly folks who are truly in love, have weathered many a storm together, and who have developed great insight into each other's spirit, can give gifts as great as you and your husband have given to each other this Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeletejalapeno cornbread?! oh my! may i please have the recipe? your meal sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI think the gloves would have been plenty. He is really a spender. You're a lucky woman.
ReplyDeleteAt least you got something...hubby was so undecided he said he didn't know what to get me and thus didn't get anything!
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love the gloves. My hubby used to find things on the road all the time and drag it home!
ReplyDeleteMen! Loveable, wonderful 'don't have a clue' men.....
ReplyDeleteBut, we do love them, don't we???!
xoxo
The tulips are beautiful! And isn't it nice that the gloves came in a pair?
ReplyDeleteStrawberry shortcake, yum yum! You must love him lots :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww, gifts of the heart are always so special. Sounds like you two had a nice V's Day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Presiden'ts Day.
Blogger has been acting up about my postings, so hope this one takes.
Hugs!!
True love gives the other what they want....I would say you both passed the test:)
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I am the frugal one in our family...lol. I cooked dinner at home for my sweetie because I did not want to stand in lines to wait to get into a place to eat. We had steak and asperagus. I dipped strawberries and had a bottle of sparkling grape juice to go along with it... We had a nice evening to ourselves....
ReplyDeleteThose gloves will keep you working!
Your hubby sounds like a dear man. He paid full price for your gifts which is hard for a frugal person to do. Like you said, the free gloves kind of made it easier to fork over full price for the flowers and candy.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby isn't frugal. I could get away with spending a LOT more money than I do, but I am the frugal one. He laughs at how "high" I can get over saving money. I'll go to the dollar store and then come home and show him what great deals I got. "How much did this cost?" he will ask grabbing something from the bag. And I usually fall for it and say, "Only a dollar!"
Then he gets a chuckle
I'll head over to your cousin's blog now.
:-)
The flowers are lovely. When I first saw the photo I figured the gloves were so you could set those tulips outside and use them to keep your hands all clean!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your cousin's journey!!
This is my first visit. That story is so funny - I will be back!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. And my husband is the same way. Hates paying full price and gets SO excited at the thought of a bargain. Too excited, if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ the gloves! I love this story. You two inspire me. ;)
ReplyDeleteHello granny Annie. Jamie Dawn told me that you like chickens so I just had to come for a visit.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading some of your posts and will add you to my blog roll if you don't mind.
I am single now so don't get Valentine gifts, but sometimes I buy myself some chocolate just because.
It was so sweet of your hubby to bring you flowers and candy and the gloves just tickled me. Personally I would consider them a wonderful gift, used or not.
Have a great week dear.
lol. oh annie. thats' too funny. well, hey, they're gonna get dirty anyway.
