  1. That will be great when it's ripe and ready for picking! Nothing better than fresh produce from the garden and canteloupes are so good!

  2. What preparations are made from it? I don't remember seeing something like this back in my country, or maybe there is.

  4. Yum! What a nice change from an avacado tree...and citrus. That's all I have in my garden.

  5. rachel, we are hoping these will be good. This is the first year we have planted cantelope.

anil p, cantelope is a melon, very sweet and delicious cold. It is a golden pinkish orange color inside.

dianne, that is actually a pretty small cantelope. No, the deer can't get to it because our garden is fenced to keep my chickens out of it.

scarlet, let me trade you some cantelope and tomatoes for some avacados!

  6. I'm more of a honeydew person myself, but I could probably force a few bites down.
We had some goooood watermelon the other day.
MAN it was READY, as my grandpa used to say.

  7. Hi Annie,
Something around here eats the cataloupe that gets to that stage. It's either the deer, or oppossums, or skunks or something. What ever it is it needs shot.
The read the diary below. Now that right there is funny. Just like a woman to to read so much into something. (I had to say that to defend the men out here who didn't respond)

  12. jamie dawn and OGO, give cantaloupe a chance. It all depends on finding the perfect one to get you started, then you are hooked for life.

Cliff, my husband says you probably have coyotes in your cantaloupe and once they find you, they remember you forever. He thought coyotes were getting his cantaloupe because they needed water so he planted next to the creek. They still ate the cantaloupe.

moon and jean mac, I am sorry you cannot grow cantaloupe and you're welcome to come here and enjoy ours.

    Yep, Monica, mmmmmmmmm is right!

And yes, everyone, I finally see that I have misspelled cantaloupe.

  15. Thx for the compliment. The story of my suspended blog is too long to go into, and there are aspects that are somewhat unpleasant, plus the fact that no one was reading it!!! LOL

I find it more fun to read the blogs of others and leave silly comments.
