V J Day, or the celebration day of Victory over Japan was held September 2, 1945. (Above photo reflects the goings-on of that day.) Thus, according to the reliable source of an old Doonsbury Cartoon, the period of gestation from September 2, 1945 takes us to June 2, 1946. It makes sense that today would actually be the first official day Baby Boomers were born. I say that as a First Official Baby Boomer reaching the age of 62:-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I hope you have the best day ever and I love you very much. Rest, watch a movie, enjoy your day. We will celebrate down the road.
Your sister Elenore
Good morning :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great birthday
I won't sing -- it would damage your hearing!!!! (Your chickens probably sing better than I do.)However, please accept my wishes for a joyous celebration with those you love and love you back!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Annie! Better late than never! Love that pic, btw. I love those black and white romantic moments.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I'm a boomer too but I am only 58 years old......
ReplyDeleteSo many nice greetings from friends and family. Thank you all.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day and I am full of top shelf marguarita, shrimp and lobster, lobster dip and Russell Stover chocolates. Today the diet and exercise begins. (Sure, sure.)
Kay, I know you're a baby boomer but wasn't sure about Lucy. Now I know that we're all special.
Scarlet, you are special too even if you aren't a boomer. That photo, by the way, is of two strangers. The sailor just grabbed that nurse in the middle of the celebration and slapped that kiss on her. It is a famous photo and it took years to find out about the couple.
Happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteThe factoid about your birth date is cool. While I knew the date of VJ Day, I never thought about when the first Baby Boomers were born. I'll remember it now.
You are at the beginning, I at the very end. A life long family friend was born in December of 1964, I was born in April of 1965 four months after her. Only four months apart, she is a boomer, I am a generation Xer.
ReplyDeleteAlthough not a "first" boomer, I got here in October of '47. Love that Times Square photo. I think it was on the cover of either "Life" or "Look" mag.
ReplyDeleteBirthday wishes to you!
