What a shame.....they take a wonderful story and try to "shove" the "Readers Digest" version on us. This story "deserved" the same amount of time as the original, but some CBS "exec" again made the "WRONG" choice ! I just don't understand why you would take a "diamond" and turn it into a "CZ". Shame on CBS for far too many commercial ads during this "crib notes" production and shame on Larry McMurtrey for allowing his work to be sliced n diced to fit what can only be described as a "mono-series" that should have been given the "life" it deserved! One would have thought the "writers strike" had occurred "during" the "production" of this show instead of after. Susan DePasse is laughing at you all. Please do yourselves a favor and "dump" everyone involved. The few good things about this are just that..."too few...and too far between". At least the acting was good. Shame it was all during the commercials. Please do not attempt to "rip us off further" with the future DVD sales.

I thought all the actors did a wonderful playing their part in the movie.I think the writer could have done a better job writing the story. They could have ended the movie in a better way. It's soo sad to see a little boy lose his mother.I think it could have had a better ending:(

  5. I was disappointed the first night but stayed with the mini series and ended up enjoying it. There is just no comparison to Lonesome Dove. I was hoping for too much. I certainly did cry when Newt lost his mother. Who are you "Anonymous" and "Ruby11374"? Ruby you look like a good Methodist with the cross and flame symbol. Thanks both of you for stopping by.

CBS Paramount Network Television and Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers, Diana Ossana, Larry McMurtry, Paul Frank, Adam Shulman, Julie Yorn; producer, Dyson Lovell; director, Simon Wincer - you all should be ashamed of yourself for destroying this great legacy. Lonesome Dove is my favorite all time movie and I own and respect the other prequels and sequels to it as well but Comanche Moon is down-right embarrassing! Watch just the first 3 minutes of "Dead Man's Walk", Streets of Laredo" or the movie Lonesome Dove itself to Comanche Moon and you will see just what a piece of crap the movie version was.
I do like Steve Zahn and I think he was terrific as Duvall's younger Gus McCrae, but everyone and everything else is a let down. Why on earth did they spend so much time on Inish Sculls and his promiscuous wife! Who cares? I know he's a central character in the book but what significance was there to any of the other Lonesome Dove movies? They spend no time on Lori, Deets, Pea Eye or even what made the town "Lonesome Dove" so darn attractive to Gus! How about spending time on "The Great Western...'Mattie' Roberts" To waste so much screen time on the Scull family was a crime. I think the directing was pathetic as well. Simon - You brilliantly directed "Lonesome Dove' and "Into the West" what the hell happened here?? You even managed make Wes Studi look like a bad actor! Larry, you let them destroy your work? You and CBS should all be ashamed.
