DID YOU KNOW...
The Centennial Light is the world's longest-lasting light bulb, burning since 1901, and almost never turned off. It is located at 4550 East Avenue, Livermore, California, and maintained by the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department. Due to its longevity, the bulb has been noted by The Guiness Book of World Records, Ripley's Believe It or Not! and General Electric.

They need to make more like that! The curly-cue bulbs and the current LED and other bulbs do NOT last several years. I date the base of my bulbs and I'm lucky if they last 1 year! Linda in K ansas

ReplyDeleteI've heard of it, but wondered if it was still burning. I guess it is.
ReplyDeleteAll electric bulbs used to last much longer than they do now, but they were losing money because people didn't need to buy them often so they were made with a shorter life-span and then it was shortened again. I remember years ago a light bulb in a bedroom was in the house when I moved in and still burning when I moved out five years later. Light bulbs of all types these days are useless, they don't last and aren't nearly bright enough.
