SUNDAY TALKING...

 Syncope?

I experienced a near disastrous syncope while driving last week.  First I was coughing and next I was awakened in the oncoming traffic lane.  Thankfully no cars were approaching in that lane.

It is my plan to discuss this with my doctor at my appointment in August.  Meanwhile I am reluctant to drive anywhere.

This was my second such incident.  The first was years ago in a restaurant.  I was never sure if I had choked on something or what.  I only know I found myself on the floor of the restaurant with people gathered around attending to me.

It seems that coughing triggers such a event.  Reading about syncope events could all apply to me. Right now I live in fear of leaving the house alone. An older friend of mine is experiencing syncope's but she has a spouse who drives her.  I am feeling dizzy just writing about this today.

  1. This is awful to read. How lucky you (and we) were that you woke up and the traffic was light. Can you get a doctor's appointment any earlier than next month? I hope so. I really, really hope so.

  2. I'm glad nothing disastrous happened. It's scary, i had an episode once, after giving blood.

I do hope you can get to the bottom of what triggers yours.

  3. I'm so sorry to learn this, Annie. How very concerning...worrying...for you. Oh! It's so much fun growing old! I'm having a ball, too...not!!!

Please take good care of yourself. I consider you a good friend. My best thoughts and wishes are with you.

  4. Please go and get this checked as soon as possible. And perhaps don't drive if you have a cold or allergy that might trigger coughing.
