EASTER SUNDAY TALKING...
Today is Easter for those Christians who recognize this day. The last several years I have failed to attend a church filled to the rafters with people dressed in their finest. More seats have been left empty and more of us have had other things to do. Easter was a time I would cry in church from beginning of the service to the end. How could people do such terrible things to Jesus?
Lengthy weeks of classes found most children in the Methodist church confirmed on Palm Sunday but I was ill on my confirmation Sunday and so was my friend Judy. That allowed us to be the only two young people confirmed on Easter Sunday. We felt special about that.
My daddy was a preacher. You listen to your parents and you believe them...for a while. Doubt begins to creep in as you grow older no matter your religion, and with that doubt comes guilt. If only I could accept without any doubt. I envy persons who are comfortable believing everything they have been taught.
If only I could believe all I heard growing up. Even my father said to me "You may never have all the answers in this lifetime but the important thing is to always continue searching."
Happy Easter from all of us at Brian’s Home!
ReplyDeleteI believe, but not without doubts and questions and tons of difficulties which keep pointing me back to my faith. It's a journey.
ReplyDeleteA blessed and beautiful Happy Easter to you!
Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteI can't find a way of commenting that doesn't seem snarky, so I will simply say--- If we are kind, if we are generous, if we are non-judgmental, then who needs it. I hope it was a good day for you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI believe, but I have questions too. I have never seen wind, but I believe it is there.
ReplyDeleteAsk yourself this - Jesus - is a historical person. He existed for sure.
He died a radical death.
So He was a liar.
Or he was crazy lunatic.
Or He was the Messiah.
Then His twelve disciples all died a martyr's death except John.
He didn't travel over a hundred miles away from His home - yet the entire world has been changed by Him.
Don't mean to be preachy - just hope I gave you some help.
I attended youtube church, it seems to have been crowded, being Easter.
