DID YOU KNOW...
During Prohibition in the United States, the U.S. government literally poisoned alcohol. When people continued to consume alcohol despite its banning, law officials got frustrated and decided to try a different kind of deterrent—death. They ordered the poisoning of industrial alcohols manufactured in the U.S., which were products regularly stolen bootleggers. By the end of Prohibition in 1933, the federal poisoning program is estimated to have killed at least 10,000 people.
Not surprising. They are still killing us off, but on the sly now. Covid is a perfect example. To many people and they have the cure. Not them of course, just us little people.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ♥
How awful was that.
ReplyDeleteHorrible
ReplyDeleteActually, that sounds just like our government. Then and now. Ohhh I think your comments are coming through. Just takes me a minute to click on them so they publish. BTW I love this segment of your posts. Great information. Have a very nice day today.
ReplyDeleteI did know that. Sadly governments have always been lacking in ethics and morals. And probably always will be.
ReplyDeleteDid not know that. Really sad.
ReplyDeleteWell, that was harsh! Very sad episodes throughout the history of this country. Maybe the history of people in general.
ReplyDeleteJeepers, I never knew about the Feds putting poison in the booze. I did hear about some moonshine wasn't made correctly and could blind or kill you. That's not that regular booze couldn't kill you, in large and frequent quantities, eventually. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteJust learn something new.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I knew about people making moonshine type products and not caring too much what went into them, people got sick and died and others just kept on drinking. I don't remember where I read about it. I didn't know about the government but it doesn't surprise me. I bet "they" never drank poisoned alcohol.
ReplyDeleteIf this doesn't make you sick, I don't know what will. Don't forget that decisions like this are made by people, men or women just like you and me. "Governments" don't make decisions, people do. Someone, somewhere was guilty of murder.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sobering thought!
ReplyDeleteAll of history is rife with man's inhumanity to man.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that a large chunk of America believes in the "My way of the highway!" then and now. I'm trying desperately not to inject politics, but your quote from Angie Worth is horribly true these days.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH! That is just incredible! I've never heard of this.
ReplyDeleteSadly, while this a known fact in the history of Prohibition, it's not very publicly known.
DeleteJust another example of follow the rules or else!
