HAPPY BIRTHDAY by Granny Annie

Elizabeth's siblings had planned this shindig. It would not be a hootenanny but they knew she would love the whole shemozzl. Elizabeth was not an heiress of any major fortune, but she was a beloved heiress of a wonderful family that loved her.

She wasn't sure what to eat before the party, so she just grabbed a banana to keep her stomach from growling. This should barricade the gurgling sounds that always invaded her empty stomach.

Elizabeth saw the light shining under the restaurant back room door. It was going to be tough for her to pretend she didn't know about the surprise. The invite had been for coffee at the cafe with a friend. Hopefully her seeing the light in the private dining room wouldn't cause a nightmare for her siblings after all the secret planning.

She wound down the curved hallway and truly jumped with real surprise when the door swung open. This gathering turned out to be a party as great as a Christmas gathering. Her entire family was in attendance, including her parents who rarely traveled away from their home. But this youngest child's 75th birthday was an important occasion.
