REMEMBER WHEN
I cried when I ran across these videos. There was a time our little 10 acre plot was active and full of life.
Once Ron was very ill and needed a lot of care all of the animals had to go. Now I just don't think I can handle them by myself. I sure miss the chickens and goats.
It was the second video which refused to play for me - but I did love the other two. What wonderful, wonderful memories to have (and to have the videos to remind you is a double bonus).
I have always been more a tender of plants than of animals, but I understand that pinch of the heart when the time comes that we just can't do it anymore. It makes me very sad to see once beautiful gardens no longer tended, old barns caving into the ground, condos filling a field that once was a grazing pasture for cows or sheep. Even so, I do understand that things change.
The videos didn't play for me, but I remember similar times from when I went to live with my mother who had two fields and a small orchard on three sides of the house plot.
I am using my iPad and can't get any of the videos to play. I will try next time I use the PC - probably in the morning, and will get back to you then.
Could only get the mama chicken video to play but loved those little peeps. Goats and chickens? What is not to love?

Slim was a very busy dog and she was a great goat herder. Frankie came here after the animals were gone and she's never really had a job.

ReplyDeleteI have heard that Hawaii has many free-roaming chickens. That can get pretty messy I imagine.

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if I could keep a garden. My animals were my thing and I loved them and named each one.
DeleteThe animals become part of your heart. It's so hard to let go.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I found homes for them all at once. My goats went together to a farm nearby and the chickens to another farm.
