I wear a mask in public, not for me, but for YOU. I want you to know
that I am educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still
give you the virus. No, I don’t “live in fear” of the virus, I just
want to be a part of the solution, not the problem. I don’t feel like
the “government is controlling me”, I feel like I’m being a contributing
adult to society and I want to teach others the same. The world doesn’t
revolve around me. It’s not all about me and my comfort.
If we all could live with other people's consideration in mind, this
whole world would be a much better place. Wearing a mask doesn’t make me
weak, scared, stupid or even “controlled”, it makes me considerate.
When you think about how you look, or how uncomfortable it is or what
others think of you, just imagine someone close to you. A father, a
mother, grandparent, Aunt or uncle choking on a respirator. Then ask
yourself if you could have sucked it up a little for them. Please wear a
mask in public.

So great to see a post from you!!!!!! Happy Mother's Day, too. And your hair is looking super duper cute.
ReplyDeleteEchoing Ivy.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see a post from you.
We are told that masks are not necessary here, and our scanty supply is largely being used by medical workers.
Social distancing IS necessary. And most of us are behaving well.
This is great, Annie! I've heard so much about really horrible people who attack store workers who ask them to don a mask. You just shake your head in wonder at how selfish they are. We've had a small demonstration or two here too where they were demanding our governor and mayor to open up the city and to allow them their rights. THEIR rights? It's so crazy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to see you in my sidebar today! Like EC says, masks are not necessary here, with the social distancing rules being obeyed and most people staying home as they should. The shops aren't crowded with people so there is plenty of space between us and I only go in to get the paper and get home again. I think I spend less than 90 seconds inside the store unless I have to also get milk and bread.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you and a timely reminder about the kindness and consideration so needed these days. May we all stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see a post from you. You have been missed!! You stated the case perfectly and I am always amazed when I see the belligerent bare faces here. I wish I could find a mask that had that printed on it.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY MOTHER'S DAY - COVID 19 STYLE - WHAT EVER WAY IT IS! ☺
LOVE, SANDIE♥
Well said, Annie. I'm so sick of those who are protesting...those who are blatantly flaunting the advice given for their own good...for our own good. They are selfish, ignorant and thoughtless.
ReplyDeleteKeep taking good care. :)
As i keep telling Sweetie, the mask is to remind you not to touch your face, to remind you to stay back from others, and to keep you from breathing on others and them from breathing on you, that's all. It does show consideration and respect an "I do not want you to get sick" attitude.
ReplyDeleteI'm really tired of the people that try to shame me because I don't wear a mask. If I was caring for a covid patient or around someone with respiratory problems I would wear one.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't make sense to wear a mask when you are out in the open, in the sunshine. A average person's mask is seldom used properly or disposed of properly.
And what is with the people that have them all cutiesed up, like this is some sort of fashion statement.
Nope, call me what you want, frown at me all you want,
I'm not wearing a stupid lemming mask!
I wear a mask too, wherever I go. It is bad enough that we lost so many lives, I hate to give any one any bad germs that I might carry without knowing.
